Chapter Two: Unexpected
You would never believe what happened next.
Red and yellow leathery skin and claws were replaced by human skin revealing an Asian-American teen. Just like themselves. The dragon skin disappeared in flames that didn't seem to harm him. He was also about a foot and a half shorter as a human, which must make for an awkward transition.
"And I thought I had it bad," I said, eyes wide. He tilted his head slightly.
"What do you mean?" he asked. I stood up, blue rings appearing around my waist, separating to reveal me as Danny Fenton. It was now my turn to rub my neck nervously. The dragon kid stared at me open mouthed.
"You're… you're only half ghost? How the heck did that happen?" I rubbed my neck harder and smiled nervously.
"Lab accident. You?"
"Genetics," he replied. Sam and I's jaws dropped.
"You mean you were born that way?" Sam was extremely curious. Now the dragon boy smiled proudly.
"Yeah, man. Well actually we don't get our powers until were like… seven at least, but…" he shrugged.
"We? Meaning there's more than one of you?" He nodded.
"Yeah, like my entire family almost," he started counting off fingers," 'Cept my dad, and my mom… I think everyone else though…"
"Where did you come from? I've never heard of dragons actually existing. At least, not non ghost ones," I said.
"Well, that's the problem. I was messing with the time traveling thing in my Grandpa's shop, and all of a sudden I was here and you were flying towards me."
"Time travel? I thought only Clockwork could do that," I replied.
"I have no idea who Clock jerk is, but this isn't really a supernatural thing. It's like an ancient artifact. See, where I come from, unicorns and giants and fairies all exist. Theyre just in hiding. I don't know what's the deal with here, but I haven't seen a single magical creature, so I assume that it's not the case here."
"Not as far as I know." We all stood in awkward silence.
"Um... You wouldn't happen to be able to help me, would you?" I smiled.
"Yeah you can stay in the guest room. My parents won't notice." Jake grinned.
"Thanks man. Can we fly there?" I nodded.
"Goin' ghost!" I yelled.
At the exact same time Jake yelled "Dragon up!" We looked at each other for a moment before I scooped up Sam bridal style and we all flew into the sky. When we reached Fenton Works I landed on the sidewalk and changed back, and Jake followed suit.
"Why da we have to change back?" asked Jake.
"I do, you dont. My parents have an anti ghost defense system active in the house," I replied. Jake contemplated this for a moment.
"They know you're a ghost?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Well I was wondering why they would have a ghost defense whatyhoosey if they know youll get blasted..." I gave him an amused look.
"My parents are ghost fighters. I'm an exception to that though," I replied. Jake nodded slowly. We all walked into the house. Jazz looked up quickly and then went back to her work.
"Hey Danny, Sam. Who's this?" she asked.
"Jake. I'm helping him out." She looked at him cautiously.
"Is he... You know?" I laughed. Jake was confused.
"No, Jazz, he's not a ghost. He's a dragon." Jazz's eyes bulged, and Jake suddenly looked nervous. I noticed this and clapped him on the shoulder reassuringly.
"Don't worry dude, your safe in Fenton Works." Jake half smiled and we all went up to the Op Center guest room. Once Jake was somewhat comfortable, Sam and I went to my bedroom to talk in private.
"It's so weird... How could that have happened to him?"
"Alternate dimension. Easy solution." Sam rolled her eyes.
"Maybe to a kid with genius parents, but to me it's weird, even explained that way," I stood up and lifted Sam up from the desk chair, pulling her to me by her waist. My blue eyes sparkled with mischief as I kissed her softly on the lips. When Sam closed her eyes her eyelashes brushed my cheek and I laughed. She looked at me strangely.
"Your eyelashes tickle," I explained. She shook her head.
"You are such a child!" I mock pouted, eyes full of laughter. There was a knock on the door, and a kid with gelled black hair poked his head in. His eyes became the size of saucers when he saw us.
"Um... Am I interrupting something?" I rearranged our position so that I was holding Sam around the waist, my head on her shoulder.
"Nope," I replied nonchalantly. He is too, Sam thought.
"I was just wondering where I could get some food... Cause I am really hungry!" His stomach growled as if to prove it. We went down to the kitchen with him and they cooked Mac and Cheese.
We sat around the table, Jake shoveling food into his mouth as quickly as possible. Sam stopped, fork half way to her mouth, her face screwed up in disgust. When Jake noticed, he blushed and grinned sheepishly, and slowed down.
It's gonna be a long night, Sam thought.
Haha I loved that ending! XD Im glad I could sneak some fluff in there….
