"No. Make it as painful as possible; prove to me that I was alive."
Perhaps I should have been afraid of him in that instant; his fangs gleaming in the half light on the broken ruins; his hand was cold and clammy as it caressed my cheek. I barely felt his fingers as they gently pulled my eye patch from me. I never heard it as it fluttered soundlessly to the slate floor. All I saw were his glittering glowing eyes that held mine entranced. I leaned into the caress and sighed, whatever happened from now on I would not be alone. Sebastian had promised me. God had shown me one thing in all this, the only one in this would that would never lie to me was the demon before me. The hell of a butler would now take everything I pledged to him and in some perverse way I would live on within him forever.
I felt his lips brush mine and sighed, for once closing my eyes and letting go completely. From now on I was Sebastian's, just as he had been mine. As his tongue slipped along my lips I tasted copper and smiled.
I would no longer be alone.
