Love or Lust

Chapter 1

Spencer Reid sat on his couch next to his little sister; she was just past her twenty-fourth birthday and had spent two months regaining her strength after having an operation to remove a brain tumour at the same time as recovering from a poison-dart in the neck. A crappy television show was blaring from the TV but Reid wasn't paying attention, he just watched his sister's face. She looked tired but he knew she wouldn't go to bed until after him; she was constantly trying to prove to him that she was alright. That she was back to normal.

'I'm going to bed,' he said suddenly, he'd hang out in his room and read a book or something, at least that way she'd go to sleep, she needed all her rest since she was demanding to go back to work full time starting the next day. She needed a lot of rest still.

'Ok, I'm just going to finish watching this and then I'll go to bed too…' she smiled faintly up at him as he stood and walked down the narrow corridor to his bedroom. He slipped behind his door and flipped on the light switch; he gazed around at his neat and tidy bedroom and sighed. He found his favourite book and quickly changed for bed, he sat in his bed reading for half an hour before he heard Rachel go to bed in the room next to his. Only then could he comfortably switch off his lamp and close his eyes himself.

But, the same as every night, he could not yet sleep, his mind would still be clouded with worry for a couple of hours before finally he would be exhausted and he could finally fall asleep. He couldn't stop being so exhausted because he was constantly worrying about his little sister.
