they are the mother and father of humanity. It is what they are, and he will brook no regrets. She is a wise queen, a teacher and guide, and he is a tough old bastard who rolls the hard six too many times. It is not attraction, there is no drawing in, they are simply together. They fight, of course, and once or twice he is ready to throw her in the brig until she learns respect. It's like he's known her forever, sometimes; yet sometimes she'll do something so brilliant or so harebrained that he has to look at her again to make sure she's still the same person, and she never is. Her utter strength is what he holds dear, but the first time he sees her lose control, sees a crack in her shell- that's when he knows. He knows they are complete together, that together they are the mother and father of a dwindling humanity.
