Disclaimer: Megamind is not mine, okie-dokey-Loki?
Shouts across the park were bursting with kids and activity. The sun was warm and the summer sky was as blue as it could be. Today was a perfect day for some, but not all. Especially for a cerelean skinned little boy with an incredible big head. Megamind watched children play together in groups or duos from a long distance. For him it felt as though the slide, spring-riders, jungle gym and other playground equipment were over a hundred miles away. And if he would to take one step into their territory, he'd be shunned.
Because he was different.
Shoulders slugging, the boy heaved a sigh and moved around a bit in his swing. Although he was extremely grateful to the Warden for letting him have a day at the park, it was rather lonely for him. No one ever went near him or wanted to play - only the officer who was assigned to bring Megs to the park. He gave the boy a few pushes on the swing and that was it; then he was associated in communicating with another person, checking up on the blue boy in glances over his shoulder.
Megamind was minding his own business, digging the tip of his sneaker into the dirt when a shadow fell over him. Curiosity getting the better of him, the boy looked up. He nearly fell out of his swing when he saw a girl standing right in front of him. She wore a plain orange t-shirt and purple shorts and flip-flops on her feet. On her face was two big blue eyes, a cute nose, and a wide grin. Her coconut-colored hair was freshly cut and in her hands was a brown paper bag. It looked as if she was around his age.
"May I sit next to you?" she asked politely.
The alien didn't know what to say or do. His green eyes looked around in case if anyone else was with her. He mentally let a sigh of relief out when there was not. Then he nodded. The girl grinned more and when she sat down in the swing beside him, she set her bag down and reached into it. A sweet-filled aroma entered Megamind's nostrils when he saw what was in her bag. The girl pulled out a small blue frosted cookie with sprinkles.
She looked at Megamind, blinked, and offered it with a smile.
He didn't want to to be rude. Putting on his trademarked shy smile, the blue boy reached out for the cookie and took it, brushing his fingers against the female's. She bit her lip with excitement.
"My name's Roxanne," she said. "And your fingers are really soft."
"Um...," Megamind collected his thoughts. "It's nice to meet you, Roxanne. I call myself Megamind. Thank you? I think. I like your fingers too. They're really... pink?"
Was that the word he was looking for? He didn't want to sound super stupid... especially in front of a girl, who was befriending him. The blue eyes of the girl sparkled when she giggled. filling Megamind's heart with joy.
"And I like your cheeks," laughed Roxanne. "You're blushing purple! That's so cute!"
From that moment on, Megamind couldn't stop smiliing.
