Alexandra Eames (now Goren) yawned.
Propped up against the bedhead, she was barely functioning as her daughter nursed at her breast.
Her husband slept on beside her. It was a source of constant amazement that Bobby could sleep through Isolde's hungry cries, but the instant she touched his shoulder, he would awaken instantly and take her small form into his arms and cradle and/or burp her as the occasion called for it.
She belatedly covered her mouth when she yawned again.
She snorted as she considered another incident her husband had very much been involved in recently: breastfeeding as Mother Nature's contraceptive had proved anything but. Holding Isolde above where her belly was beginning to swell with pregnancy once again, she wondered how they were going to handle two under two.
She didn't even need to think about her answer: Bobby would handle it with aplomb.
During her first pregnancy, she'd woken several times in the night to discover her partner suffering severe bouts of insomnia. He hadn't left the bed though, instead propping himself up on his side, often just looking at her, his gaze centred on where their unborn child was slowly growing.
The larger she became, the more touchy-feely he became.
She seemed to be able to sense when he was unable to sleep, for even as she slept herself, her body would arrange itself just so and she'd slip her fingers into his curly hair.
It wasn't uncommon for her to wake up in the morning to find Bobby curled up around her, his hand resting on her swollen abdomen, his head resting on her shoulder as she held him close.
Her path down memory lane was interrupted when she fell asleep, for when she opened her eyes next, her husband was standing beside her, reaching into her arms for the sated, sleeping Isolde.
As he left the room to put her down, Alex fixed up her shirt before sliding under the covers.
She was asleep once again before her head hit the pillow.
