Author's Notes:
This is my first fanfic and I hope you enjoy! I really want to make it different then those other 7th element stories because I find them a bit repetitive and boring.
Please leave a comment to tell me what you think so far! Also, I am looking for OC's, appearances, and who you think Starfire should fall in love with:D Now onto the story!
Starfire rubbed his eyes and yawned, exposing rows of carefully whitened straight teeth. He blinked several times to get the sleep out of his eyes and stood up. Shaking his head to clear it, he groggily wandered to the small private bathroom adjourned to his bedroom.
He looked in the mirror and was greeted by a sleepy, black unicorn with a messy bright orange mane and tail. He gently brushed his coat and washed his face, then left and wobbled downstairs into the living room.
As he passed the hearth, he used his magic to create a fire in the fireplace, causing his cutie mark, a blazing comet, to glow orange for a moment.
Teetering across the laminate floor, away from the roaring fire and plush couches to the huge bookcase in the corner. It was taller than him, and had been there as long as he could remember.
Selecting his favourite cookbook, he walked into the kitchen. Compared to the warm living room with its large space and dark red walls, the kitchen was small and plain. It had white walls, and light green diamond-shaped tile flooring. The only furniture in the entire room were two benches lined up next to an island counter with a floor-matching light green granite top. The rest of the kitchen was taken up by a stainless steel fridge, a stove, and a small counter with the same furnishing as the island.
A large window and glass door to the backyard took up one wall, and the other two had framed photos and a door each, the west wall to the washroom, and the south wall to the living room.
He looked at one of the photos hanging on the south wall and sighed. It had been taken when he was just a filly, showing him next to his ma and pa working in the big garden they had. His mother's belly was huge, showing his Pegasus sister Dusk Shine about to be born. Dusk Shine hadn't survived her birth, and had passed away within the hour. It had crushed his parents so much that they had chosen to move away to Manehattan. He had been fourteen then, and by pony standards was old enough to make a living because he already had his cutie mark. His parents had let him rent the house for relatively cheap price, only two hundred bits a month, and then had left that week, with next to no warning.
Starfire sighed again. That had been eight years ago. Between now and then he had only seen them twice, and other then that, only had contact with them in the yearly birthday letters they sent him.
He sighed once more and looked for a good recipe. Deciding on a bacon and egg hash, he began busying himself in cooking with his magic. His food was cooked and ready in a matter of minutes. Sitting down he tried a bite and could barely stop himself from shovelling in the whole plateful. Starfire eyed his cookbook. 'It's amazing' he thought, 'how a cookbook with such simple recipes can transform a water burner like me, into a great cook.' He chuckled a bit, and finished up. Levitating his plate, he walked to the sink to quickly clean the dishes.
Just as he was about to put them away Starfire was interrupted by a ringing phone. Quickly shoving the plate in the cupboard, he turned around and galloped to the hall between the bedroom and the living room. Lifting the red plastic cordless phone off its wall base, he magically held it to his ear. "Hello?" He asked, wondering who would be calling this early.
"Hi honey!" yelled an exuberant voice on the other side.
"Mom!" he said in a shocked voice. His parents never called. Even when they were still living in Ponyville, they had constantly displayed their dislike for the phone, saying it was better to talk while looking at the ponies face. The mere fact that Starfire's mom was contacting him, and on a phone no less, was nothing short of a miracle.
"Mom?" he said again. "... Uh... So is everything alright?"
"Everything's fine... Just dandy!" She said sounding like her cheerfulness was forced.
Starfire was getting worried. He had never heard her say the word 'dandy'. "Are you sure?" he asked suspiciously.
"Oh of course I'm fine, you silly little filly!" She practically screamed into the phone. "Just thought you should know your father and I will be coming to Ponyville to see the Summer Sun Celebration!"
"Oka... Huh... What?" Said Starfire, more confused than ever.
"See you then hun!"
The line went dead, leaving Starfire standing there, his mouth open in shock. Recovering, he simply smiled and shook his head in disbelief. His mother always made last-minute plans, and he was just glad to get to see them again. It had been too long since the last time.
Grinning to himself he grabbed his guard uniform off the coat rack and walked outside into the fresh morning air. Inhaling deeply, he could smell new cherry blossoms and blackberries starting to ripen. Stepping out onto the tree-lined sidewalk, he gently trotted along, waving to ponies he knew and recognized.
He turned around, walking backwards as he waved to a bouncing Pinkie Pie. Suddenly, he bumped into a familiar orange pony.
"Hey AJ," he said apologetically to the farm pony who was dusting off her hat. "Sorry about bumping into you... You okay?"
"Ahm fine sugar cube," she replied cheerfully.
"That's good," he replied, smiling because she wasn't hurt. "Gotta go work on security for the Summer Sun Celebration. Hey! You're in charge of catering the food aren't you?"
"Ah sure as sugar are!" she said, smiling proudly. "That's why the Apple Family reunion is being held here, so the whole family can pitch in with the event!"
He couldn't help but chuckle at her pride, earning himself a slightly confused glance. She shrugged it off and waved goodbye, he waved back and turned around to continue on his way.
Starfire had barely taken a step when the clock tower bonged nine times. "Buck!" He yelled, earning a few glares from the nearby passer-by. He didn't notice though, being too busy galloping down the street, trying to make it his job on time.
As the head of guards in Ponyville he was naturally in charge of security for the Summer Sun Celebration. He wanted things to be perfect when the head overseer came to check on his progress. Walking into the barracks Starfire was greeted by a receptionist, a pony named Derpy Hooves.
As he waved to her, she began munching on a muffin that she had seemingly materialized out of thin air. Starfire continued to the carpeted hallway. Taking a left, he opened the door to his office.
Walking in, he went to his desk to get his list. It held all of the names of the ponies on security, and where they were supposed to be positioned for the celebration. It had taken him almost a full day to organize everything, and he was glad he did. Levitating the parchment, a clipboard and a quill, he trotted away to the stadium where the Celebration was being held. Walking into a large back room that had cement flooring and no furniture, he nodded at the soldiers there waiting in rows against the wall.
He took his place at the head of the area and began roll calling, making sure all were present. Luckily enough they were, otherwise he would have had to substitute other ponies. Starfire began going down the list assigning jobs. This was easier said than done, and it was well past midday when he had the last soldier in position.
After a while he decided it was time to take a break and he walked into the main room of the pavilion to watch Rarity fuss over decorations. However, she was nowhere to be found. It looked like she had finished early. "Probably went to do her hair again," he said to himself, chuckling.
Getting bored of doing nothing he decided to go and make sure the weapon distribution was coming along nicely. Starfire had nothing to worry about though, everything had already been dealt with. Rather than wandering the building aimlessly, he walked back to his office and started filing paperwork.
"Hello? Anyone there?" A female voice called from behind the door, startling Starfire to his feet.
"Yes!" He called back. "Come in Miss..." He trailed off as an unfamiliar pony came trotting into his office
"Oh hello! I'm Twilight Sparkle, the events Coordinator, but you can just call me Twilight. And you would be Starfire?" Said a lavender unicorn mare. She had violet eyes, and a dark blue mane and tail, which each had a purple streak running down it. She gave him a curious look, "What are you staring at?"
"Oh, I just got lost in spa..." Starfire started, embarrassed, but got cut off by a small purple dragon rushing into the room behind Ms. Sparkle.
"Twilight! Twilight!" The small dragon yelled, sounding somewhere between scared to death and just plain obnoxious. "The guards wouldn't let me in so I had to sneak by!"
Starfire gave him a stern look. "That wasn't wise young dragon, you're very lucky you didn't get sliced to pieces," he spoke, a warning tone in his voice.
The dragon rolled his eyes, earning himself a look from Twilight. "He's right Spike," she said in a motherly tone. "You should have waited for me instead of being so brash. What if you had gotten hurt!" She continued to lecture the dragon, until he gave Starfire a look that just screamed 'help me!'
Starfire cleared his throat, making Twilight jump in surprise then lower her eyes bashfully to the ground.
"Sorry," she said sheepishly, rubbing her front hooves apologetically together.
"That's fine," he said kindly. "Now please forgive me for asking this Miss Twilight, but may I ask why you've come into my office?
So that's It! Please leave a comment and tell me what you think! New updates will be out soon!
