Omg, I cried my eyes out too when I read it. Ugh, I hated Darren Shan with a passion as deep as the ocean when he wrote that fake chapter! (However, now I tricked myself into thinking that's how he survived; someone swinging and grabbing him, etc. XD) I didnt cry as hard as I did for Severus Snape, but I must admit it -did- play a huge part later. If Crepsley was alive, he could have changed Darius, not Darren, which wouldn't have built the suspense later for the fight and...etc.

Holy crap I hated the fake rescue part more than anything! I found out he died before I even read the eighth book! Due to my obsession with him and the entire series I decided to see how many dorks put up fake myspaces pretending to be the characters and I found a Darren Shan. Well in his heroes section he wrote that Larten was his hero and that he died fighting a vampaneze in the hunt for their Lord and I went insane :( I was depressed for weeks and ran through book eight and the first part of book nine until I got to his death. I'm re-reading the saga now (out of order; started with 4) and even now the thought of reading about his death makes me want to vomit! I SERIOUSLY HOPE Darren Shan writes that supposed 4-part series about Mr.Crepsley in his early life...I'm sure you'd all love that too. He was the greatest character of all. It would be awesome if Darren Shan look some ideas from this site and used them in Larten's series (if he makes it), especially Jedi Solo's Saga of Larten Crepsley.

I somewhat hope he doesn't go a Larten series. I do, but I don't.

Let me explain why I do; If he makes it about his early life, then that'd be great. If he makes it to where he's almost rewriting the Saga, no.

Now let me explain why I hope he doesn't; If he makes a series of Larten, depending on the idea of course, then it might ruin the Saga. Personally I think that that stuff /could/ happen and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that. If he makes a series where it continues or clashes with the Saga...It's like "Oh yeah, I guess this proves it's just a book" ya know?

I know, I did the same *sniff*

I think that the worst part is Darren kind of undoes everything that happened between them at the very end. Like it never happened.

What I did was I stupidly read the end when he dies and then I read it again a while later but I read the part where everything turns out alright and got my hopes up again

I was reading it at the beach and started crying. And then I got my hopes up when one of the princes (can't remember which one) rescued him and killed Steve. Then I read the next chapter and found out it wasn't true. On top of all that, Steve told Darren that he was the Vampaneze Lord! I was blown away at everything.

Well, Darren Shan is my favorite and least favorite author ever! Let me explain...

1. He made an awesome ending to the book that made us believe it all really happened and he made Darren go to paradise to be with Mr. Crepsley from HIS reality. That's nice

2. Admit it, it WAS a good ending, whether it made the WHOLE SERIES pointless or not, it was clever.

3. He tricked us. I already knew he was going to die. My friend spoiled it it for me! lol! But when I read the fake chapter, I was all like, "You liar! He doesn't die!!" Then I read the REAL chapter and was all like, "Aww man!! What the hell?!"

4. I mean, the least Darren (the author) could have done was make it quick for him! What really made me cry was that it was slow and painful...REALLY painful. He didn't deserve that! I wasn't going to cry when I found out he died, but when he described his screams of agony...that was too much.

That stinks!!!! But...you read when he died. Even if it made you believe it wasn't going to happen yet, you still knew it WOULD happen. Any way you read it, Mr Crepsley's death sucked.
