Immortals

Punderful

What are Immortals? They are the ones that mirror the age of the earth itself. The ones that oversee the progress of the earth. Immortals are the ageless ones.

When are the Immortals? They are all the time. They live until they are killed. They survive through cunning. They beat the test of time, but not the test of a sword or a gun.

Where are the Immortals? They are wherever their fates bring them. They travel countless amounts of miles, to every location known on earth. They are everywhere.

How did Immortals come to be? Nobody knows. In fact, nobody even knows they exist. They silently live parallel to the ages of the earth. They change their identities every century or so.

Who are the Immortals? The Immortals are you. You are the Immortals. You are the ones that live longer than earth, survive the test of time, travel all of the known world and are unknown to its inhabitants.

Perhaps history will be different due to your interference.

Are you ready to live forever?

(( Perfect.

Marshes (dubbing himself Publius Marius Paetus) walked quietly along the roads of Rome. The empire spanned across miles and miles of land.

Soldiers rushed down the streets. Marshes had heard something of 'the son of god' being born in a small town near here. Marshes had wanted no part of that, though.

He had considered many things that he could do with his Immortality. Just recently he set a goal. He was going to start a nation, and conquer the known world.

Of course, it seemed a little big for any normal person. But Marshes had an infinite amount of time to waste.

(( Btw, Immortals can only be created before the first timeskip. Afterwards, only regular human characters can be created.

Zakarie, wandered down the Roman streets, aimlessly. Being an immortal, he had an infinite amount of time to waste, and nothing to do with it. He thought that he may as well see about this "son of god". He had heard that the baby had been born in a manger and was making his way there.

Marshes decided he should start a small band of rebels first. Who was the current Emperor? Tiberius? Thats right.

He took out a map of the known Roman Empire. It stretched from Namnetum to Thebae. It wouldn't be easy to overthrow this empire, but it will be fun.

He looked at some of the settlements in Cyrenaica and Aegyptus. It would be a good place to start, because the inhabitants probably aren't too happy about the Romans taking over.

He sighed. It'll take a while to get there. He started walking. If he was lucky, a wagon would pass by.

As Zakarie made his way to the manger, animals began flocking to him. He approached the manger and saw a beautiful scene. New mother laying down with her new baby, with what appeared to be rich uncles standing around. That wasn't the beautiful part. Beauty was in the otherworldly glow that seemed to eminate from around the new child.

It seemed strange that this scene would strike him so, but as he walked up to the new baby, animals in toe, he knew what he wanted to do with his time. He knew that definitively, he HAD to stand against wrong doings. If he was an immortal, then there had to be others as well. These immortals may choose to spend their time raising hell for mortals. To do this he would need followers. He would need a righteous army to stand against the darkness. Where to start, however was the question.

He looked to his right and left, and studied the animals. Well at least I know I'm not completely alone at the moment.

(I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm not even religious.)

"Heading to Neapolis?" a man driving a wagon on the road asked. Marshes looked up to him. "Ptolemais, actually." Marshes replied.

The man shrugged. "Come aboard. You could probably catch a ride there on a boat, and I could use some company." he said. Marshes nodded. "Okay." he said, getting up on the wagon, next to the man.

"Hyah!" the man said, giving the horses a whip. The wagon started slowly moving. "I'm Lucius Calpurnius Strabo. Whats your name?" he asked. Marshes smiled at him. "I'm Publius Marius Paetus." he replied.

The mans eyes widened. "A Paetus? Interesting..." he said. They had a few various conversations, until a short silence occurred.

Marshes started thinking. He made a decision. Thousands of people live one life. He decided he'd do the opposite. He'll be one person, living thousands of lives.

After he becomes a great ruler, he'll be something else. Perhaps a politician, or a great seaman. Oh, the decisions.

"Something on your mind, Publius?" Lucius asked, breaking the silence. Marshes nodded. "Have you ever heard of Immortals?" he asked. "You mean the people that live forever and cannot be killed?"

"Not exactly. I mean the ones that just live forever."

"I don't think I've heard of that kind. Living forever, but can still be killed. Hm..."

"Just a thought." Marshes quickly said. Lucius nodded. "Okay then."

They conversed about many things on the long wagon ride to Neapolis.

After the celebrations at the manger, Zakarie decided he'd head south into Jerusalem. Those people were in a great need for leaders. Especially since the Romans took over. It shouldn't be too hard to start a brotherhood there.

He started walking, it wasn't that far away, and with his luck a horse would be by any minute anyway.

After sitting in the wagon and taking turns steering for several days, they finally came to Neapolis. "Heres the grand city." Lucius announced.

Marshes looked around the city. It seemed pretty fancy. Tall buildings all around. You could see the large port from the city. He nodded. "Its impressive." he said.

"Yeah." Lucius agreed, still in awe. "This is my first time here."

Marshes looked down at the port. "How much would a ticket all the way to Ptolemais cost?" he asked.

"Around 715 florins." Lucius said. Marshes winced. That's a lot of money. He will find some way to get it though.

"Thanks for the ride." Marshes said. "No problem. Feel free to find me next time you're in Placentia." Lucius said.

"I will." Marshes said. He walked away. Now all he had to do was come up with 715 florins.

(( Welcome. Original character you have thar.

Marshes walked around the city. He couldn't find a reasonable way to make money. He couldn't steal. Working would be too annoying.

Suddenly an old man walked up to him. "You look nice and strong. Would you mind helping me on a fishing trip? I'm not what I used to be. Reeling in lots of fish would prove too hard for me, so I need a young strapping man like yourself. What do you say?" he asked.

Marshes first thought was I'm probably ten times older than you'll be when you're dead.

His second thought was I supposed fishing is a quick way to make money. Faster than working on land, anyway.

His third thought was Wait... Boat... Two people on it... Ones me.... the other is an old frail man....

His fourth thought was I'm going to Ptolemais.

"Of course. As long as I get payed." Marshes replied. "I wouldn't be asking if I wasn't willing to pay you for your help." the old man said, smiling. "Then you've got a deal." Marshes replied.

"Good. We'll be setting off in a few days. We already got everything we need, but its probably sudden for you. You should tell family and whatnot." he said.

"Actually, we should set off now. My family is back in.... Placentia.... I'm here to make some money." Marshes said. The old man smiled. "Well then. You'll have some soon." the old man said.

They both got on the boat and set off. Marshes was going to be Ptolemais faster than he thought.

Marshes and the old man were at sea. The old man was unsuspecting. All Marshes had to do was throw him overboard.

"I think were far enough at sea to tell you that I came on this boat with intentions of tricking you."

Marshes suddenly turned around. Wasn't he supposed to be saying that?

The old man was no longer hunched over. He was a tall, strong man. Though he still had all the facial features of an old man.

"What are you talking about?" Marshes asked. The old man chuckled. "I'm actually a slaver." he said.

Marshes winced. This was an unexpected plot point. He had to do something quick.

He whacked the man with an oar.

The man fell down, unconscious. That was easy. Marshes tied him up. He slowly came to. "Ugh... what happened?" he said.

"I think its safe to tell you this now. I came on this boat with intentions of tricking you. See, I needed a quick ticket to Ptolemais. This ship was an easy steal." Marshes said. The man just looked confused.

"Anyway, I can't have you delaying me any longer. So I'm going to throw you into the ocean." Marshes said. He hoisted the man over the side of the boat, and he plunged into the water. Bubbles came up for a few seconds, then stopped.

Marshes nodded. He grabbed the map they had been using. It showed their approximate location. He charted a path to Ptolemais. There. Only a few days trip.

Blitz in the last hour had gotten a boat of his own. "Thank you for helping me" Blitz said to the old woman that gave him the boat. "Anything for a cute young angel like you" The woman smiled. "Actually I'm over 300 years old bye!" Blitz said to the now shocked woman before setting off in the sea. "Sometimes it's good to look small" Blitz giggled to himself.

Zakarie got to Jerusulahem, and instantly knew he would be able to accomplish something here. Depressed people littered the streets, bums littering the streets. The worst case scenario, if he wasn't able to get anyone else to follow him, he would be able to gather the vagrants. All he would have to do is promise them a roof.

First things first, though, he needed to find a roof of his own.

Marshes boat sailed into the docks of Ptolemais. It was a sad little town, perfect for an uprising. He pawned the boat for a few extra florins.

He walked around the town. Many people also roamed. Most of them looked miserable. He thought he could just start right now, by yelling 'Revolution!'

Of course, that wouldn't work. Someone would report him, hoping for a reward from the Romans. No. He had to go about this carefully.

First, he had to find a base of operations. The money he got from the boat should be more than enough to buy some property.

Marshes searched the small town for signs of dis-settlement. It wasn't going to be easy instilling rebellion in these people.

He suddenly saw a villager being dragged away by Roman soldiers, and a family trying to stop them. Eventually they were knocked aside by the guards, and the villager was dragged away.

Marshes walked over to them. "Was that your son?" he asked someone, probably the father. "Yes. All he did was curse a roman god... He had hurt his foot. He didn't mean it!" the man said, then he returned to mourning his loss.

Marshes smiled, but hid it. "Thats it! I can't take it anymore!" Marshes said, and the man looked at him. "What?..." he said. "My family was executed by the Empire. I can't take it anymore. We must rebel!" he said.

The man looked confused for a second, then he nodded. "Yes. It is the only way." he said "But we must not be public about it. Come with me to my home."
