I'd readd the home worlds. Don't get me wrong a New Beginning was a good game, but it would be nice to be able to go back to previous levels.
I'd also reintroduce the ability to view previous cute scenes again. (Makes it easier for us fan fiction writers to go back and look at some of the stuff we need to know without having to replay the whole game.)
Perhaps I'd make several different challenges available in the home worlds, such as a skate board race that you could do to earn gems and you could sell the gems in various shops to obtain upgrades for your character.
Hunter, the Professor, and some of the characters from the original verzion would be introduced into the Legend of Spyro continuty. I guess Moneybags would be there out of necesssity.:(
The short range and long range flame breath would be much the same as they were in A New Beginning, so would the fury attack.
The ice breath would completely freeze small enemies and partly immobilize large enemies at close range, as well as make them more vulnerable to physical attacks. The long range breath would be an ice disc that bounces off walls and enemies, until it runs out of power. The ice fury would basically be the short range breath but on a much larger scale. It would freeze all nearby enemeies (even the big ones) and leave them helpless to your attacks.
The short range lighnting breath remains unchanged, but its long range now launched a ball of lightning that hits an enemy and then launches a stream of electricty off at other nearby enemies. The fury attack strikes the enemies with lightning and bounces eletricity off them, the lightning may even bounce to an enemy that was out of range of the fury attack.
Earth breath remains unchanged, except for the fury which sends tremors through the ground and drops rocks on them, even cracking the ground open and swallowing the enemies up when fully upgraded.
I'd add in a darkness breath element. The short range versions would deplete the enemies health, while slightly increasing your own health. Long range breath would release a cloud of darkness that if an enemy wonders into will freeze it in place. The Dark Fury releases a blast of darkness that damages all nearby enemies and then after that lets Spyro enter a "dark" mode in which his attack power and etc. increases for a limited time, but the more enemies hit with the fury the longer the effects endure.

i would change, i would make it a more mature game
more crude humor, a coap mode would be nice
i would keep or add more to the new fighting style from tlos
and i would bring back freedom, cause in the last game, you couldn't replay past levels until you beet the game. more upgrades, only three upgrades kinda sucked. more varietys of breaths, like wind and water. bring back the old characters.

7/20/2007 #6 ReportI'd flipping bring back Elora and Bianca, for starters! Insomniac killed off my girls and replaced them with Ember in all her squeaky-voiced pink ditzy glory, for crap's sake! I don't mind Cynder, but I honestly feel like strangling Ember.
Second, Sparx would've had a personality a lot sooner, probably somewhere around Enter The Dragonfly. He immediately shot up my list of favorite Spyro characters in ANB, and I wish that would've happened sooner.
I'd rant more (PMS is a wonderful thing), but I can't find anything wrong with the game besides locations mysteriously disappearing in A Hero's Tail, and that's probably the result of my massive Gameshark (ab)use.
8/14/2007 #8 ReportI would redo the entire Year of the Dragonfly game! That game made me embarrassed to call myself a Spyro fan! I mean what with the bad voice acting and the lack of Tom Kenny voice playing as Spyro! He played him for two whole games!! What was the problem this time?!! Plus I half expected Dora the Explorer to jump in and ask "How many dragonflies do you have? One....(hour later) Two..." etc. What happened to the semi-teen content in the series?!! There was at least some sort of concept of death in the first three as well as an all around better plot idea! Hero's Tail was a little better in the sense of the plot idea, but the characters were still "babyish"!

11/27/2007 #10 Reportyeah but good graphics can only take a game so far....even if the graphics were good you'd be too busy paying attention to the horrible voice acting and depiction of certain characters and since when was Moneybags Arabian?! He was British!! They could've at least kept his race and got another voice actor that could do a British accent, i don't think people would've cared about that but change him almost completely?! sheesh....

The Hero's Tail was fairly allright, yet everything was to bright and colerful for graphics which sorta made the game more for the child audience and leaving older people like us in the dark...
A New Beginnning greatly improved the graphics to a whole new scale with plausible combat moves with very interesting lighting effects as well. I have all the platform Spyro games except the Eternal Night. Should be playing that sometimes soon.

A New Beginning was okay, but I personally thought that the original games were way better...it's a pity insomniac stopped making the spyro games, where they stopped making I stopped playing as much...It all went downhill from there, though Cynder was awesome...One thing more I hate about the new games: They made you not able to go back to previous worlds, you had to spend FOREVER to get back to the boss, sparx' annoyingness and uselessness, and where is hunter? HE AND HIS SHEEP SAUCER OBSESSIVENESS ARE GONE! Also...has anyone else noted that in certain cutscenes and brightly lit areas, spyro is actually pink now? You'd think with them ranting about the power of purple dragons they'd actually MAKE THE POOR DRAGON PURPLE! My rant is over now
12/18/2007 #16 ReportThey also really didn't think with the flying stuff in new beginning, ex.Spyro can fly, so naturally if you jump off a cliff he can't fly and falls to his death. Another are those bat-Dreadwing things, you use electricity to drag 'em off a cliff and they just die. Something I like to do is face off against one of those massive apes I call warchiefs and use electricity to drag them off a two foot platform, somehow the two foot drop kills them 0_0;. A horrible mistake #1: The dragonfly game...I hate it so much I won't bother saying its name...I don't see how you can beat it, if I run five feet it stops and loads for an hour or so then the cycle repeats. Horrible mistake#2:Ember. Horrible mistake#3: Handheld spyro games. Horrible mistake#4: Making sparx a sarcastic idiot with absurd facial expression, non moving wings, and arms! Horrible mistake#5:Saying that A new beginning was a reboot to the series and thus everything else did not happen. Horri-nevermind, Universal made way too many of those but here are some of their worst ideas: Spyro being raised by dragonflies and him thinking he's one, saying how wonderful and awesome purple dragons are while simutaneously making spyro pink, unlimited lives, The dark master being called the dark master (honestly!), The cutscenes mainly being things where spyro asks questions while some old thing mumbles in a voice you can barely hear, and stuff like that. This rant is now over.

1/9/2008 #21 ReportThe first trilogy was best...Oh yes they were...Who cares about graphics if the game is good? Year of the Dragon was my personal favorite. Insomniac unfortunately stopped making spyro games because they though they couldn't really give new abilities and all, like spyro can't use a gun. I'm glad they didn't have a gun weilding spyro (the turrets, tanks, sheep saucers and laser defense system were good enough for me in YotD!), but they still unleashed the horror that is Vivindi Universal spyro...

1/17/2008 #25 ReportYou have not lived until you have seen the poorly animated skeleton (who still looks cool anyway) do the moonwalk, the splits, backflips, everything and more. If you don't have Spyro two or three, get it just for that dance. Or, you could go the weak way and go on youtube for it, but its your life. But you need to see it. You don't know awesomeness until you do. Does anybody know a spyro fic with the Skeleton of Awesomeness?
