Oh well, then yes. :D

But poor Verus. He got it in the hip and did some kind of funky acrobatic. It was amazing. XD

So...to get back on topic but somehow continue the Geldo and Verus conversation...why don't you give us your take on how the pair is compatible, katana? I don't know a ton about Verus because I haven't played Origins, so I don't even know where the idea for the pairing came from.

Oh, I've been planning to o that for a while, actually. XD But I don't want to spoil anyone, so I think I should lay off...?

But the idea of the pairing? Just listen to how Geldoblame talks about/to him...and find his Verus Scrapbook. XD

Make a spoiler warning and write it anyway. We've already spilled beans about Kalas, Xelha, and Melodia, what harm could spoiling Verus do? Besides, I don't even know who the hell he is. O__o

Also, it's my personal theory (anyone else?) that Wiseman possessed Verus' heart either in the timeframe/s nearing the completion of Tarazed or when/if he was killed by Sagi and co. during the Age of the Gods in Atria. (Because some people didn't do that. :/)

I think you already know with this, but I'll mention it here again for the sake of anyone else who might care. I disagree with you on this point. I think Wiseman used Verus' body as a host once Verus had relinquished control of it... essentially, when he was dying. Verus had a strong heart, which was all Wiseman wanted. He didn't care about the body.

Geldoblame is most definitely very homosexual at first glance (more-so to those of you who've played Eternal Wings, ha-ha).

A lot of people think that he was like that in EWatLO, hence all the Geldo/Folon, Geldo/Skeed, Geldo/Lyude, Geldo/Fadroh fics out there, but I actually never got that vibe from him. Before I played Origins, I always figured that Geldoblame's room was so pink and littered with children's toys (and a giant apron and a rotating bed and a kiddie pool, etc.) was so that he could, well, lure a young duchess like Melodia in there. I figured he was a straight pedophile, to put it plainly. :/ But I'll admit, he might have been bi. It's hard to judge, since Geldo never even gets to talk about his sexual preferences in the game. :P

awkward blabbering about not-knowing Milly (which I don't buy, actually. Noble people usually know each other, right?)

Uh, yeah. I think that was Verus trying out some irony. That might have been him actually letting Milly know that he recognized her, but wasn't going to give her identity away. The fact that he knew Milly was spying on Sagi for Baelheit showed that he was probably not doing what was in Sagi's best interest, even from the very start.

So--can anyone imagine how much that must bother him? (Back to the Wiseman thing--when he reveals his insanity and stabs Baelheit ,did anyone notice that he still had his cane? Even in the very beginning of Tarazed's Core, he still needs it until the very end--when Wiseman is closest. Note how ((well, depending on your ending; I'm playing through the other ending this time to see the differences and deveop another theory)) Wiseman is RIGHT THERE when Verus is killed.) Anyway, it's kind of obvious that Verus has a machina prosthetic after a while. I was figgerin' it during disk one, and the fight with Verus and his machinaguis proved it for me.

Ah... hmm. You might be right, but then again, I always thought that he was faking it. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing no cane in the battle with Verus and the machina. When he did the death by stomping attack, didn't he have to run up to start kicking? If he did run, wouldn't his cane be clattering along beside him? I don't think he had it with him, which is why I thought that the machina leg worked just as well as a normal leg. If Milly's body allowed her to function just as well as a normal person, don't you think Verus would have a leg that worked fine, as well? I thought that Verus hobbled around in earlier scenes of the game for some political reason, or so that he could get sympathy. Or so he could make everyone think he was weaker and more harmless than he really was.

But I agree with you that Verus' machina leg probably did have some special value for him... I think that all machina did. From my perspective, Verus' most personality-defining quote went something like "Machina... so much easier to manipulate than humans!" That bitter, calculating, manipulative man is the Verus that I see. Sorry if he's different than what you see, Katana.

-ashamed of prosthetic

-gentle

I'm still not convinced that he was ashamed of his leg. :/ He might be bitter about it; he might be using it as leverage when he manipulates. I mean, he never would have asked Sagi for help if he hadn't had the excuse of being a cripple. But while I do not think he was embarrassed by his leg, I agree that his being "not whole" was an important component of his personality.

And Verus was gentle--to some. To others he was everything but. It's important to note that he was sort of two-faced in this way.

-sensitive (both physically and personality-wise)

Geldo sure was sensitive emotionally, but physically? Do you have an example of this...? Or does he just look frail?

And I think that's all. :D In closing, I'll say that I agree with most of what you said, except everything that I pointed out up there. Though in my personal opinion Verus didn't care for Geldoblame... all that much. I don't think he had the capacity to love like that. Since I believe he was insane from the very start, but was smart enough to wait until the right time to reveal his plans, he was using everyone around him. He used Sagi to impede Baelheit's pro-machination plans, causing his opponent to seek ot a different plan of action in the form of Tarazed. He used Geldoblame to help him gain power in the Senate and entertain him. He used Gena for pleasure, I assume. But I don't think he ever really, truly cared for these people, as he suggested that Gena's baby be used in research of an experimental nature, put Teen Sagi in danger countless times by lying to him and eventually fighting against him, and ruthlessly betrayed his faithful aide. When you actually look at Verus' actions... he was not a very nice man at all.

That's just my opinion, though. I realize there are many ways to interpret Verus' personality, and on top of that we don't even know when Wiseman possessed him. It's kind of an open-ended thing here.

9/2/2008 #71 Report
soheil solitarius

I agree that he was used as a host postmortem, yeah.

Yyyyeah, I'd figure he's bi, and (god, half of this doesn't make sense without its fanon, so exuce me for shoving it in; I'll be rewriting it eventually D:) considering I'm the Gelodia shipper that I am...he kind of has to be. XD

He's kind of...old, though. You know? (Christ, way to be eloquent, Katana. :D) I'd think his prosthetic would be older, considering that in the time he lost his leg (maybe...twenty, twenty five years prior? Again, fanon. D:), Baelheit's machina tech. wouldn't even exist; he'd be like nine. Younger, probably. So Verus probably wouldn't have had the luxery of a good prosthetic, and it probably ended up having some sort of sentimental value.

And I distinctly remember hearing his leg making...robot-Godzilla noises before the battle. That really locked it in for me. (...hopefully I wasn't hearing things? D:)

I think I see him differently...entirely because of Wiseman. Wiseman is like a parasite, and I'd presume a strong heart would be his best host--and who has that heart? Gena has a strong heart, but by the time Wiseman is eliminated, she's still too weak. Sagi has a strong heart, but he's taken by Marno even before then. There's a few others, but going in this generally familial direction, that leaves Verus--Sagi might have even unwittingly led Wiseman to him, or that's what I believe. Does anyone else think Wiseman would have painfully amused by machina. He'd hate it too, because...well, power of the heart and all that jazz, but I'd think he'd want to play. And I definitely don't mind you having other opinions, obviously. I'm totally open, I just...I like to dissect my favorite characters like the frogs in a seventh grade science class. :D

Again, I really regret having such vague fanon stuffed in here. It would have made more (...maybe less for some?) sense if I had just crammed that elaborate Katana-has-no-life shit to the rafters. Do you guys mind that, though?

But yeah-- gentle to some. In this case, "some" is Geldoblame. I forget whether I specified that or not. (But this is, after all, Katana talking.)

fanonfanonfanonfanonfanon

D: I'll seriously edit the shit out of this post if anyone cares, though. But my fanon has to do with him being a frail kid and all that. (I know how it feels. I keep getting mock-RA and allergic reactions and the flu and colds every single week--if you guys ever met me, you'd know me anywhere in the dark, because I'm pale enough to glow. XD)

BUT YAAAAAAAY

YOU GET A COOKIE, FAAAAAN. HEY, HAVE AN INTERNET TO DIP IT IN. TAKE ONE OF MINE. :D

(And I'm glad someone replied, I was starting to feel retarded for posting this shit. XD)

*is lazy to make a new topic*

If the characters had Astrological signs, what do you think they'd be? Here's my guess...If anyone has another suggestion, feel free to change my opinion! haha! I don't quiet know my Astrological signs too well... *hides in case if signs don't fit*

Kalas-Sagittarius (matches his wit)

Xelha-Aquarius (for being stubborn)

Lyude- Cancer (:P Help, anyone? Cancers can get emotional and all...)

Gibari- Taurus (:P Help! T_T Does it fit?)

Savyna- Capricorn (cause she over does her job, and Capricorns can over work themselves.)

Mizuti- Gemini or Leo :P (she claims she knows a lot.)

I think she got the bit that Geldoblame is physically frail from the fact that he's not much of a fighter. Or at least, that's what I was thinking.

It made my day to see you go on that rant, Katana, fannon or not. 3 'S okay, I tend to do the same thing with Savyna, a bit.

Astrological signs... I notice no one is a Scorpio. It's okay, we're supposedly the most passionate and easily angered, therefore the meanest. XD

If anyone was a Scorpio, it would be Milly, though. XD

At least it's not like Naruto, where I share my brith sign with OROCHIMARU of all freaking people.

Hm... hey, yeah Milly is stubborn. haha! It could be one of the stubborn signs. Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, or Scorpio. Then Sagi-Wagi would have to be a Cancer or something that's compatible with Scorpio. haha!

Serene: Maybe it's the fact that you only pop in once in a blue moon in these forums. _

You know, in some ways I should be glad Arc Rise Fantasia has been pushed back until Febuary 2010 rather than the "Spring '09" date Nintendo Power's been claiming for a while. You guys don't know how much I'm looking foward to it...

But really? You've started Origins? Great! How far are you? I can't wait to see what you think once you've finished it. In my opinion, the characters and story are a lot different than the first game. And sure, the voice acting and script are better in Origins, but EWatLO will always have a special place in my heart. :3

And we can talk about EWatLO pairings if you want... non-canon pairings can be fun, too.

Haha... I'm still just waiting on a BK3. Might never come, but I'll be waiting.

It's the decendants. Now I don't get much into GS pairings, but the main character looks to be Isaac/Jenna child.

I do think that will be awesome, though, how funny would his personality be? Calm and collected in a crisis, but short-tempered and passionate. A new breed of hero. :D

It's all right, Fan! I was kidding about the forgetting part. ^^ I know really haven't been coming to the forums, or even reading or writing much, so I understand that it seems like I've given up on this place I keep meaning to, too. Well, I'll certainly keep trying. I can't really explain why I'm a bit more attached to the invisionfree board, either...

Yep, I've already started, though I'm not very far in at all. Also, in a couple of days my sister will be leaving for her Taiwan trip, meaning Origins is going to be on hold until the last week of July. T_T (oh, and I'll miss her, too). I've only recently arrived in Sheratan for the first time. It's too early for me to say much, but I do apperciate the better voice acting and don't yet see how the battle system is any faster than the first game's.

Heh, what Baten Kaitos fan isn't hoping for a third game? Golden Sun getting a third game after all this time really is encouraging (I really need to pick up copies of both games before stores stop selling GBA games...).

Tiara: You DO realize that the Golden Sun series is more popular than the Baten Kaitos series and no doubt sold more. Heck, there were even GS TV commercials. I belive there were never American TV commericials for BK.

Spoilsport. And Don't forgot, Baten Kaitos was not only #25 in that Weekly Famitsu 2009 "Most Wanted Sequels" list, but did better than Golden Sun, which was at #32 (this list was made before E3). (http://www.rpgamer.com/news/japan/mb050109.html#4)

Dita: And also, Monolith Soft is working on that new Monado: Beginning of the World game for the Wii. If they are going to work on a third BK, they'll likely do it after this game. ^^

Serene: Yep, this is what muses do when their client doesn't write anything for a while...argue about whether or not a game will be getting a sequel.

Galaxia: They do when they are Pokemon-muses, apparently.
