What really pisses you off about FFN? Site features not working? Constant glitches as they 'improve' the site? Vent here.
FFN Pet Peeve #1: The change in the review reply feature to make it exactly like a PM, which now makes me type in a message head (it was so much easier before when it did that for you!), and won't let me reply to users who have disabled PMs. *shakes fist* The old reply feature was SO much better! *thumbs down* FFN FAILS AGAIN!
When doesn't it?
Hmm...let's see. The fact that this site keeps track of all the hits on your stories, but actually don't track down how many people read them. Seriously, I see that I have hundreds and thousands of hits total over all for my stories from the day I published them. I wish I could keep track how many people have actually taken the time to check the story out. That's more important than the number of hits. If I were a published author, I don't just care how many people looked at the book, I want to know how many people actually bought it!
Oneof my tales has this year had nearly a thousand hits but no reviews. Though I think someone favoured it!
I totally understand about the review thing. (Sigh) But I will try not to worry TOO much about it. oh, who am I kidding. Some peeps just can't be bothered. grrrr.
Reviews are down all around as the fandom has fizzled down to the die hard fans and a few newbies who are just getting old enough to appreciate the story. I expect the closer we get to The Hobbit's Release it will pick up, especially AFTER it's release, though I expect a lot of it to be Hobbit centered fic, probably with a lot of Tauriel, the warrior elf maiden of Mirkwood. *eye roll*
Okay, now I don't feel quite so bad. I don't get much in the way of reviews for the Neverwinter Nights as there aren't as nearly as many readers for that fandom and for BtVS, I have resorted to all OCs for one story, so unless one really likes the idea of a new Slayer and her adventures and plights, they may like my Tale of A SLayer fic. But nope, most just want to see some Spuffy and/or Bangel action. (As in Spike/Buffy and Buffy/Angel.) Too bad though.
My dad however thought writing a Buffy fandom was a total waste of time, but I actually think my Slayer tale is one of the best things I have written for a fanfic. ANyway....
I should point out this wasn't a Tolkien story. Though it had his influences!
