"You enjoy it but it doesn't really get you off like it used to."
"You read auras, not minds. I love my job just as much as I did thousands of years ago."
Nathan almost grabbed her by her neck. "I prefer for you to ignore my aura from now on."
"I can make you sane without staring at auras." Nathan grabbed a mint from a jar. It was the only thing he labeled right. "Eat this."
He turned around and stuffed it into her mouth at the last minute. This wasn't his style at all, but... Well, Nathan had become quite desperate.
By accident she had bitten down. She spat out most of it. The rest of it. She stared at Nathan. His Aura began to fade, "No... no.. no!" she reached out toward him, willing it back but it was already gone. She closed her eyes and thumped back into her usual chair, curling up in a ball and hiding her face when she started to silently cry.
Nathan felt smug at first but then when she had reached out... Was that guilt? "Come here, Sylvia."
He pulled her over to him and held her, which was... well... awkward.
She ducked her head down and pulled her arms in, crying in to her sleeve.
Nathan let go of her. He could clearly see Sylvia committing suicide.
He looked around the tent before stuffing something in his coat's pocket and chased after her. He hadn't been outside in years. "Sylvia, sit!"
She stumbled backwards and sat abruptly on the ground. She curled in a ball and rocked back and forth.
