I know this shouldn't matter but I wanted to say that I haven't been able to reply since I've been on a family vacation in a secluded area in the mountains which doesn't allow me to have good internet access.
By the way Caileylover: I'm sure that you'll find some good authors. i can't search because my father is waiting for me to come back with him and my uncle to return to the house.
5/29/2011 #11 ReportThat's ok, thanks for wanting to help! I've found some good BTR authors, it's just there are so many invented characters in the Redwall section that it kind of bothers me. And when people invent characters, they sometimes can make a mess of them. I'm not saying all invented characters are bad, but they're aren't many good authors who can make a strong character and stick to it.
5/29/2011 #12 ReportI know how you feel Caileylover, when I head to this section I want to read storeis about the cast, not just original characters. Most OCs aren't done that well, however there are enough exceptions I've found to not just dismiss them. My stories tend to use them a lot (probably more than necessary), and I have a lot of fun coming up with good ones.
As for Redwall, never read that fandom, in fact, I don't even know what it is. I've heard some good things about Dissonance ยป by 65 Days of Static though. Not sure quite what it is, but it might be worth a read. (Please say the links actually work...)
5/30/2011 #13 ReportI think that if an author can't create a strong original character then it could really complicate the plot in a story if it involves characters that we already know so well. I'd say to avoid making original characters UNLESS you know you can create good original characters. Otherwise, don't do it if you're not confident in yourself making a new character. You have to believe in yourself and in your own writing skill.
