The Starfish Parable
While wandering a deserted beach at dawn,
stagnant in my work, I saw a man in the
distance bending and throwing as he walked
the endless stretch toward me. As he came
near, I could see that he was throwing
starfish, abandoned on the sand by the tide,
back into the sea. When he was close
enough I asked him why he was working so
hard at this strange task. He said that the sun
would dry the starfish and they would die. I
said to him that I thought he was foolish.
there were thousands of starfish on miles
and miles of beach. One man alone could
never make a difference. He smiled as he
picked up the next starfish. Hurling it far
into the sea he said, "It makes a difference for
this one."
I abandoned my writing and spent the morning throwing starfish.
When I had nothing to lose, I had everything. When I stopped being who I am, I found myself.- Paulo Coelho
My Opinion on Dead Ever After:
I liked DEA, I wouldn't give it 5 stars, maybe three if im generous but it probably more like a 2.3 or something. I always knew Eric was out for himself and idk why other people romanticized him so much. I thought at one point maybe they could make it work but there was a turning point I'm not sure when, when I knew it just wasn't gonna work. Im happy she took the good guy cause I felt like she was always choosing these risky guys when she had a stable, loving guy right in front of her all along.
In response to people who think Sookie didn't strive for more or just settled for less.
Its not about just laying down and taking whatever. Its about her being tired, tired of all the danger, tired of not being put first, and just wanting to be safe.Lets not act like she was going to get all that with Eric because if push came to shove(and it did) he would be firmly on his side.Im not going to pretend I thought this book was a 5 out of 5 and that Harris could've did more but at least it was practical, something that Eric has in spades but everyone is so outraged when sookie thinks to use it.
I still have hang-ups on many things like Bill and who actually is writing these book(cause come on lets not act like there isn't a difference from when she started an where she ended), the progression of many of the main characters, how certain scenes were wrote and the lead up towards those scenes and other things.
