Italy is the older contury ( and i belive it existed sometime after the roman empire, but i'm not sure) Germany was in a war torn state in the past, the german contury was also in a bit of disray even when america was colonized. Though of course Germany had more power than Italy ( I guess they got more power/wealth sometime around the rise of Hitler, but not all of the economy was "improved" so Germany's power was let say average? Becuase lets be honest the most undefeated eruopean contury has always been britain, but thats off topic.
