What can I say here? I feel like there is so much, yet I feel like... like I can't find enough words for it.
The battle is over for now, Kathryn and Smaug are injured and recovering from the fallout of the battle and their actions, Smaug has verbally declared his true love for her, and now feels true remorse for his actions. He promised to abandon his old ways for her.
UGH! I wanted to say more than this, to say how truly brilliant and amazing your story is here and the series so far! I feel as though my reviews have been too short as of late, lines of one or two sentences at most for most of the time. I wanted to say how happy I am for Smaug and Kathryn, to realize how much work they both need to put into their relationship, and yet all I managed is a simple recap. Yup, uh huh, did I miss anything, oh yeah... SO MUCH!
I have all these feelings inside me, and yet I can't describe any of them and how the story made me feel them! Why?!
What can I say here? I feel like there is so much, yet I feel like... like I can't find enough words for it.

Oh man, the son of Morgoth is doing horrible things to Kathryn, and I am deeply afraid that Smaug won't save her in time.
Oh no, Smaug is injured, and Fankil is wounding him so easily! The darkness is threatening to consume his mind once again. I could see him looking at Kathryn, and shedding tears as he imagined him being lost to Sauron's influence, never able to be with Kathryn again.
Something tells me "Irmo" should not be trusted. Oh maybe he can.

I love how Gandalf is getting through to Smaug, and Smaug's own growing fear at being bound by such a chain and Sauron's influence.
Smaug giving them a favor? He truly is desperate for Kathryn.
I loved seeing Gandalf put Andraya in her place.

He's laying waste to the entire city, and now is giving her an ultimatum! Kathryn is still so tired from earlier, she always has been from an earlier point in time at any moment. Can she still fight? Can she take her dragon form and maintain it?
Oh Kathryn, she never knew about Andraya's true motives, and now she has fallen into a trap.
Can Smaug truly save her?
Turn into a dragon girl!
So Sauron is inside of Smaug's head, and now the ring is within his grasp. Oh this is getting interesting!

Oh man, the idea of such a chain scares me, and I find it impressive that someone could be so disturbed by inflicting such a violent death upon a dragon. I love the idea of dragons representing freedom. It also scares me that Morgroth used such dragons and bent them to his will.
Oh crap Kathryn actually moved him, and made him slide! This is amazing! SHE IS A DRAGONESS NOW! SHE TRANSFORMED RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY TOOOOOOOOO! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! LET'S RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
"Oh the Chiefiest of Calamities doesn't know what to make of this! He's just standing there, staring at her! OHHHH! The dragon just got SLAMMED into the wall by the female! She's grabbing onto him and OH! She is ripping his scales off! He doesn't know what to do!"
"What can he do Mike?! Oh was that a headbutt?! Well nobody wins with that, but she doesn't seem to care! She is pounding him into the wall! Over and over and over again! When will it end?! Smaug is surely gonna feel that in the morning!"
"Robert I don't think he's gonna be feeling anything for a loooong time and- OH! Was that the tail?! Oh it sure was! And Kathryn has drawn first blood with claws to the face if she hasn't already! She is smashing his head into the ground nonstop! I bet he's even lost teeth with that! You were right Mike, that is gonna hurt! That place is falling apart, and she brings it down with a tail! This is madness! The tower and all the walls fell on the great dragon!"
"SMAUG IS DOWN! YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT! SMAUG IS DOWN! KATHRYN WINS BY KNOCKOUT!"
Oh man I can't tell you how many times I reread that scene while listening to Rage Awakened from Kingdom Hearts, I am being absolutely serious here, I lost count. Each time I read it, I could see the perpetual snarl on Kathryn's snout, the blazing fire of rage that laid in those amethyst eyes. I could see her smashing his head into the wall, then the floor, the cracking of stone and the dripping of his blood. I only wish that Kathryn struck his face with her tail so as to knock out his teeth.
I really hope Smaug lost teeth with that in that fight. I also REALLY wish that structure hadn't collapsed as soon as it did. I wanted to see Kathryn bite Smaug's face, neck and his throat, digging her fangs into his scales and flesh, leaving scars as his blood flowed onto her tongue. I could also see her stomping on his face, and wish she slammed her hind leg into his jaws before she left for good measure.
How did I see this fight coming? It was like two or 3 chapters ago. Am I a seer?
I don't think it will be any trouble to dig himself out, it hardly took him long to get out of the lonely mountain. But oooooooh boy, Smaug is going to be furious (and possibly slightly ashamed and disgusted at himself) for what Kathryn did. She BEAT him! She BEAT Smaug in a fight. Sure he was so shocked he wasn't able to fight back, but that won't matter to him. I don't think Smaug ever LOST a fight, at least not to another dragon!
Man, that transformation really took a lot out of her, and... man, I really want to see her in her dragon form even more now, able to master it and get practice in it so she can take it more often.
Oh no, while I know Kathryn really needs help, I was a bit worried when it was revealed she was taken back to Vathvael. Not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing for when Smaug comes there. Hopefully if he does come with the intention to fight, Kathryn will fight him in her dragon form again.

And so is Smaug... and now... just like I had feared, Sauron is corrupting him.
Gandalf and Elrond are terrified, but I can see Kathryn refusing to leave. I can see her standing her ground and telling them that she WON'T leave, and that when Smaug comes for her, she will FIGHT him.
I could see her standing on a city wall, glaring up at him as he descends upon the city, and transforming into her dragon form.
I am scared for Smaug, for Kathryn, for the city, yet I am determined to see this through to the end, to fight.

Okay, so now Freyja and Faervel are in the mountain, and Kathryn knows that Smaug has attacked innocent people. Oh I can't wait to see how this goes.
No... no way he just killed Freyja... and now Kathryn and Faervel saw it... oh my valar.
If Kathryn doesn't turn into a dragon after this, I will riot.

Well I don't know what to make of that dream. The red eyes black dragon (can't remember his name), Smaug fighting him, the one I assume to be the necromancer, then Gandalf, the one ring, Sauron, I really don't know.
Catapult nightmare awakenings don't happen in reality, but I can see why movies and books do it. How else are they supposed to show a terrible nightmare if the person is just twitching and panting on their side?
Hmmmmm, this stuff about Irmo and Path of Dreams is very interesting, yet unfamiliar to me. Is this something that was in the hobbit book?
Yes! Yes! She had her period! She is not preggers yet! I actually punched the air when I read that.
Oooooooh boy, and she is ANGRY now! Oh boy, I just punched the air even more! Oh I am soooooooooo glad I kept reading this!
AAAAAAAAH CAN THIS GET EVEN BETTER?! SHE IS FIGHTING HIM! BT ( - -SLAPPING HIM WITH MAGIC, AND NOW HE IS ISN'T EVEN THINKING BEFORE HE SPEAKS!
NOW SHE'S A DRAGON! OR TURNING INTO ONE! HOW DID I SEE THIS COMING? I JUST THOUGHT OF IT NOT MORE THAN 30 MINUTES AGO BEFORE READING THIS!
Although Kathryn felt hurt after waking up, as she began to think about EVERYTHING she and Smaug had ever been through, I imagined her becoming furious again, even more furious than before as she now had a powerful emotion channeling through her as she linked it to her memories of Smaug. Him dying, him revealing himself to her in the alleyway, him nearly taking her on the balcony, and the stuff they did the night before or so.
Imagined her drawing so much magic that it pushed Smaug back, the flow of energy so strong he kept skidding back and fighting for traction. And as all of this occured, cracks would be developing in the cave/chambers, dust falling as Kathryn fell over and snarled as she transformed, only this time it wouldn't stop partway, and Smaug would stare in horror as she transformed. I imagined ride of the revenant by eternal eclipse playing as I visualized it.

Oh Smaug, why can't you just let go of all of this?! Why can't you just stop the carnage? Don't you see that you're threatening Kathryn? She won't be able to defend you if you continue to cause such needless destruction! Faervel will never believe her now!
And now Smaug is using Kathryn as a means to an end? Trying to INDUCE visions in her? The kind he promised her that he would protect her from?! Has all of their progress been for nothing?
Part of me honestly hopes that some of Andraya's words got through to Smaug, and that he'll realize how his actions affect Kathryn.
Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait. Smaug has mated before? Possibly even had children?! I wanted his first to be with Kathryn, but... does it really matter if he's mated and bred before? Would having done so change the love he feels for Kathryn?

Kathryn said she never wanted him to let her go, but... how will he ever learn the difference between love and this? Will he ever care? Will he ever feel intense remorse and possibly depression?

I swear, every time I see that black, armored figure with no face and a horned helmet, my mind immediately jumps to the Witch-King of Angmar instead of Sauron.
I hope that black dragon isn't a corrupted Smaug. Oh good it wasn't.
By the valar, they're trying to secure more black arrows. I can't watch Smaug die again, I can't.
When will they learn that Smaug did not kill the king? The men in the court are too arrogant and full of lust for power that they will not listen to anything that will not further their careers. They will not listen to a dragon who has laid waste to countless cities and lives; nor will they listen to the woman either truly believing or finding it a convenient lie to say that the dragon has bewitched her, and thus will naturally be swayed to defend him.
I want to cry. Smaug... I fear dark forces still have an influence on him. Oh why can't he let go of his greed and rage... why can't he see how much he's hurting Kathryn? Will he ever?
