Aaahh, I'm gonna stop here, I thought this was an original fic, a good one...but I can see the pattern, Naruto will become edgy boy and replace Sasuke in defecting from the village, I mean, seriously, Mizuki had no reason to be nice with Naruto, I get why Iruka sensei might have been cold, but Mizuki? nah boy, you just pulled that out if your ass...and Naruto going with Orochimaru? really? He has no reason to do it. He doesn't want to be stronger, he already has his team, he's not some abandoned child anymore, if he becomes edgy just because of it, it's because you, the author, just wanted him to be...being depressed after the wave mission when he never interacted with Haku nor Zabuza...he didn't even watch them die, why in the seven hells would he be depressed?! It makes no sense.
Be honest, you just couldn't fanthom a story where no one defects, right?
