I love this story. The writing, the dialogue, the characters. Everything is a great, smooth read. My only real gripe is the pacing. I get why Naruto didn’t immediately return to Konoha, he’s destroying the bases before they realize the Sound ‘village’ is being systematically destroyed and its leaders dead. That makes sense. But for the love of God, it’s going so slowly that my understanding wavers with each chapter that the inevitable Team 7 reunion isn’t pushed in the necessary direction.
When news of Orochimaru’s death and Naruto’s clandestine mission reached Konoha, that was the perfect moment to deploy Team 7 to get to him before Akatsuki or anyone else does. I get the reasoning why Tsunade would hesitate, but the risk of letting him be captured outweighs the danger placed on anyone sent to retrieve him or how Konoha might look. Sakura doesn’t have to be sent. But to not send Kakashi, Satsuki, and any other random Jonins, seems shortsighted.
As an author on this site, I know how annoying it can be for people to question any decisions you make as the writer of your series. If this is the best way to get to where you want to go, please for the love of God ignore me. But, please take a step back and make sure you aren’t unnecessarily drawing out this arc. Because I can attest that all your readers want it to be finished and for that long awaited reunion to happen.

I love this story! Going great. My only gripe/complaint is that the Naruto side is a little too slow. It's been like 4 chapters, and Satsuki has a whole genin team now and Naruto is just meeting people. I think the pacing might need to be sped up a bit, maybe Naruto returns to the leaf soon? I don't know but IMO, I think the story would be way better if Naruto returns and has to face his consequences.
Then again, it's your story so you do you! Just some thoughts

After hearing the double rainbow song, how could I not chase after them? So yes, twice.
I'm glad they got to hear the news this way, I'd expected more obscured information and angst over what might / might not have happened over in sound.
Also looking forward to the alteraction with akatsuki to see how you spin things :)
