Actually, no, preadolescent sex was NOT a feature of the Old Testament, though they did marry at terribly young ages in that day. (It was, however, a feature of the life of MUHAMMED, whose most favored bride was 9 when he first bedded her.)

I'm still wondering how the fuck Harriet is talking to these dolls that talk back to her...

To add on to what the other reviewers are saying: the difference between London-Edinburgh, which is the East Coast Main Line, reasonably straight and relatively modernised track on the very near level, and Edinburgh - Anywhere In The Highlands, which is up an obscure spur of a twisty through-the-mountains branch line is going to be enormous in speed. It wouldn't surprise me to discover that the last thirty miles took a whole hour by itself. There's not a lot of difference between the top speed of steam and diesel-electric on the ancient track we have here in the British Isles (the disadvantage of having had the first railways, we're stuck with early design decisions, some of them from the early 18th Century), but the ability to cope with gradients and bends differs wildly between the two, as does what the rolling stock will bear. As soon as the Hogwarts Express gets off the mainline it'll have to slow down a *lot*, and the track itself will be making a lot of detours to stay on a viable route rather than covering the (much shorter) straight-line distance.

In my own headcanon, Remus being a child of the 60s and a teen in the 70s, made his living as a marijuana grower.

Average yearly salary wizard is ʛ4,000. Makes you wonder how and why the Weasleys are poor.
Rowling math of 5:1 then ʛ1,000 equals $50,000.
Real world math ʛ1,000 equals $914,000.

In my own headcanon, each house plays against the other 3, in a best out of 3 series, each.

Theory on Bem, within the Pottermore community. Is hes royalty of some sort from a Arabian or African country. Fay Dunbar exsist only in the video games, but fan fiction adopted her as canon.

Train tracks themselves in England are ancient. Governmental regulations dont allow steam locomotives to exceed 125mph. Most likely the Hogwarts Express isn't going more than 90mph.

If a galleon is a typical 1oz coin, then in 1991 its was worth £904, (though its implied a galleon is heavier than any real world coin). Dudley was horrendously cheated if he only got £25 per coin.

Well about that, its thought it was Bellatrix's personal vault, not the LeStrange one.

Why would they spend a month brewing a potion in a place that they know someone has died before? They even know approximately where in the room the danger came from. They have the clubroom that can become anything they can imagine. (sigh

I agree that Qudditch should be at least two games for each team. If I remember correctly, there wouldn't be normal tie-breaker games because even number of wins means the team with the higher score for the season comes out on top.
