I'm quite late to the fandom and this fic but I stumbled across it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed reading it! I probably should have expected the character death, but I really didn't and oh man did the last few chapters hurt. World conferences definitely won't be the same after this!
I guessed at Russia's secret pretty early on but I still enjoyed the ride up through the final battle and aftermath. I think your writing really improved throughout the story and by the end I was wholly invested in these characters, their fates, and their well-being post-battle. The stakes during the battle, the melancholy of the aftermath, and how your core characters changed and moved on made the characters seem that much more real, in stark contrast to the caricatures they seemed to be in the beginning (which is in line with canon, but less believable in a serious story).
In any case, I'm glad I read this, and I especially enjoyed the last few chapters! Thanks for writing and sharing!

I'm sorry, but I'm from south Texas, and seeing a yankee having to figure out how to 'properly' use y'all is the most hilarious thing I've read all week. BTW your close, but it can be basically be used anytime you could say 'you all' (god that sounds so weird out loud. you-all) Who your actually referring to just depends on the context. Also, do you people actually call soda pop?

This story had me in tears!
I loved it & hated it -but I loved it more
I cried sooo much for Romano
I never thought Id see the moment where sweet Italy would hate someone so much to practically kill them. im pretty sure Italy's very very messed up by this point
1. His brothers dead
2. He has to run Italy all by himself now
3. He has to be a part of that bad side of italy that his brother was a part of
4. He's probably trippin' out that he just realized HRE & Germany look alike
& 5. He still has their 2ps to worry about

I WOULD MISS HIM TOO (crys)

This was supper dupper sad, but I couldn't stop reading. I do wish that you had ended it a little differently. Like they went to go visit Mattie's grave a year later, they're crying when they hear a small voice behind them. They look up and see a little boy (that looks a lot like mattie) standing there. It ends with them asking him what his name is and he responds with "Canada." Granted that's how I would have ended, and I'm not bashing your writing. I just thought that it was a really sad ending with, what looked like no chance of the dead nations coming back. So I would have written in a chance of them coming back in a really cute way to lighten the mood. Really sorry if this upsets you...
