Please continue this! I love this twist on the task; fourth year is (arguably) THE year to go AU, the tournament has so many loopholes and alternate plot paths. .. I really enjoy this type of fic, and this was humorous and realistic. With Ron gone, I wonder how Harry and Hermione will get along. .. *hint hint*

I'd really like it if you continued this ficlet into a real multi-chapter story. The dragon handlers would probably love to talk with Harry. Harry could even translate for a conversation between the four dragons and the handlers. I'd like to see the dragons' opinions on the Tournament. They probably won't be happy. I'd also like to see the baby dragons once they hatch. Maybe Harry could visit the reserve where the dragons live.
I think Charlie will probably have to have a talk with Ron on the subject of his stupidity. Hopefully Harry will start making friends with people in the other Houses of Hogwarts.

A good start to a redo of the first task with Harry just talking to the dragon. Good for Hermione to stick with Harry but did the dragon over hear want Ronald said as he never talks quietly. As Harry made it look so easy, will Ronald try to prove anyone could have done it. Then maybe the dragon could have a quiet word with Ronald on how not to be a prat and upsetting her friend Harry?

Wonderful concept, I would love to see you continue it. I can see the Dragon helping out during the last task, or if not then during 5th year. Maybe one of the hatchlings as Harrys familiar? Several dragons helping since Harry is their friend? Some interesting possibilities here.

Always like it when harry talks to the dragon in the first task.
two of my other faverite harry talks to dragon scenes are in "harem wars" where the horntail turns out to be the queen of her clan. And after harry gains his own lands the nagotiate an alliance where the horntails live on and help protect harry's new home. Though he still does the firebolt think during the task
and a little story called "tri wizard tails" where harry talks to the dragon. In a nice twist, the eggs hatch and imprint on harry and he ends up as uncle harry to the new dragons.
Also like stories where harry somehow brings the dragon model to life and it becomes his pet / familiar.
And where the horntail itself bonds with harry becoming his familiar and friend. Though those sinarios are less common.
Like your version of ron's reaction. Normally harry either accepts his appology or not. First time i have read this version of that scene.
I really think you could expand on this story and turn it into a muli chapter. Especually the relationship between harry and his new friend. How will harry and hermione get along with ron not in the mix.
Would like to think hermione would be his yule ball date and maybe more.
With out ron's own brand of bigotry influencing harry, would he make friends outside of his own house. Maybe even some from the snake pitt. Would the other weasleys follow ron's lead. Dought it. After seeing harry's talent, charlie would probably all but adopt him.
can even see ignis maybe visiting harry at hogwarts from time to time. No dought hagrid would be pleased about that.
maybe even helping harry with his voldy issues.
Have read a few where the dragon engulfs harry in some sort of special fire that heals his body where it should be if it were not for thr dursleys and / or gets rid of that little hitch hiker in his scar.
