I think the chapter went a little too hard on the willful ignorance to make this happen. Sure, I could see Birch making those initial assumptions but I find it hard to see that kind of charade happen for more than a few minutes once Riven, someone with literal swords (which should've prompted Birch to call the police) and blood on their clothes, talked with Birch for more than 10 minutes. This is almost anime-levels of crazy but other than that, I've really been enjoying so far!

sorry for not commenting much! i love your story and the way you write your characters. usually i dont really like ocs in an fic with a omc bc im not really into pokemon lore and it just makes it harder for me. But the way you integrate them into the story is just magnificent! Everything feels so REAL! Uh i suck at articulating my thoughts but I LOVED THIS STORY! i hope you will pick this up again, ik its been almost a freaking year since you updated and almost 11 years since you started this book. WHICH IS CRAZY BTW LIKE WHAT! i might just read pedestal after this!

What an absolutely incredible story! I wish I had a quarter of the imagination displayed in this story. I love Riven as a character, and his dynamic with Will especially. Looking forward to seeing what happens next— talk about ending on a cliffhanger.

This fic was interesting, honestly. Riven took awhile to actually grow on me. I really liked the other characters a lot more. Riven, as a character truly got better as he grew up but he comes off as trying too hard to be a less funny deadpool. I get the whole merc with a mouth vibe but he was more akin to rough sandpaper.
Gale is awesome, truly. She really embodies her origin trait just like Will. Baron is actually just the top G. Riven really felt off from what a dark type represents. He felt so off the mark at times. The broody edgelord thing I guess fit to an exent in the beginning as a teen child soldier but as he got older and the story went on he started to act more like a worse deadpool, in all the wrong ways. Then with the later time skip he really starts feeling more like a dark type and overall a better character but that was after roughly going through 700k words worth of progress.
Despite my qualms with the MC, I still really enjoyed this fic. I love the world and characters despite not being the biggest fan of Pedestal. Id go as far as to say that this story is infact much better. I love that its not the traditional journey fic. The drama, the humor, the angst, and the many riviting moments within this fic made for a great experience overall. The chapters seem to take an immense time to update but theyre all rather long. The story itself feels like its maybe 60% ish done. I can see the climatic build up coming but so many questions are still left to be answered. I say give it a go, potentially make your own headcanon, though, as who knows when this fic will actually be finished. Like me, I finished with what has been written, but I am left wanting more. Honestly, seeing fics like born of caution doing so well on patreon makes me sad as this fic feels much better and the author here could've made something full time out of this. That and Hard Enough do immensley well, which truly astounds me. Hard Enough isnt bad for say but the quality of work the author here has produced could easily match a patreon making 4k a month with a story thats almost as good as this one.

I loaded this randomly just to check, and I found not one but TWO NEW CHAPTERS! I lost my fucking mind, spend all day reading both. As always, I'm excited to read the next chapter, and probably to reread this while thing over again from the beginning since it's been awhile and I'm a little lost right now. Might post another review once I've finished doing that. Can't wait to see the swords react to this all next chapter.
