That was so beautifully done, bittersweet and sad. I really loved this idea, and the idea that Enjolras nearly got scared to death by the surprise party is pretty much a headcanon now, hope you don't mind :D "We celebrated living"...perfect. Also, on the narration, it's difficult to do it from E's point of view and while it lacked some narrative detail, you handled him well.

Oh my word this was exquisite! An absolutely beautiful and yet gut-wrenching, soul stabbing piece written with such eloquent prose that it made my heart ache. The way you use the first person narrative is absolutely glorious and I very nearly teared up at. the moment between Enjolras and Combeferre- very, very well done Mon Ami. The way you parallel Hugo's 3rd person narrative in our beloved chief's final moments is also wonderful and oh, I'm rambling whilst trying not to cry….
Very, very well done, you should be so pleased with this!
