Wonderful story! It really shows their relationship - how Valentine is protective of Jace but is also trying not to care about him. That's not really shown in the Mortal Instruments books much.

Loved how you wrote their interaction!
It's interesting to see Valentine fighting off his love for Jace, but he can't help but feel a fatherly protectiveness towards his son. And Jace being the kickass kid who wants to have a dagger already! I enjoy seeing this kind of innocence in him that he doesn't have anymore in TMI.
