Compared to the Berserker, I can definitely see that a Soul Bendek isn't as animal-like, per se. I guess it's the control that the Berserker lacked (respectively, given by the name), unlike the Soul Reaper, who is a bit more tame. Having never played the game before, I'm assuming that the Soul Reaper is the more defensive of the two.
Probably could be compared to the real life Norse berserkers of the 10th century. Get drunk with beer and honor, then charge into battle with two axes with the intention to destroy all that he can.
