Wow...very sweet and sad! One quick question, are there two kids or three? Because there's Jacob, Martha and Samantha, and I can't decide if Little Samantha is a nickname for Martha or a baby sister younger than these two.

That is a good, gut wrenching one shot that can stand alone as you say. ... But I have to say it :) as a greedy reader ... asks for more... for the questions to be answered. :) Thanks for sharing and carry on writing whatever you muse asks you too.

Wow very powerful. If I read the last line right it seems that little Jacob was not sure his father would be back alive. To know that at age 6 is something I cannot describe.

Well you had me crying in the middle of a shopping mall. Damn pregnancy hormones!
Somehow the last paragraph was a bit different. No hope in there in the eyes of a little boy... it didn't fit in there to me. But that could be just my strange emotional self now...
I would like to know what happened. Where is she... where is he going... stuff like that. Like a peice of the story is missing...
