That was wonderful! You're characterization was, I think, spot-on, and I appreciate you going into more depth about the consequences that the Bewilderbeast attack would have had on Berk as a whole. And, as always, it's nice to find someone with good grammar :) Thank you!

Hmmmm, I like this. Toothless is difficult to pin. Most likely because Dragons see things differently and their point of view isn't meant to be the same as humans. However, I can see Toothless not having but one regret: That he took Stoick from Hiccup. Yet, its not really the loss of Stoick directly that is the cause of Toothless' grief, but rather the emotional turmoil that it has dealt Hiccup.
I like this idea because, for Toothless, everything that makes life worth it, revolves around Hiccup.
Toothless is grieving not really for himself, but for Hiccup because of the strain in their relationship. However, he's stubborn and isn't going to just hand in the towel. He'll be there for Hiccup, not matter what and will wait as long as he has to until Hiccup can trust him fully again. So, really, Toothless doesn't regret his actions, because if Stoick had not shoved Hiccup away, it would be Hiccup that Toothless killed.
And that is something that Toothless can not cope with. It would have destroyed Toothless. So, in a strange sort of way, Toothless is grateful to Stoick and honors him by watching over his son and being there for him despite the pain and hurt that Hiccup is feeling.
I was wondering, I've written a One-shot from Toothless' point of view covering this very subject. I haven't gotten much feed back, but, if you have the time, would you read it and let me know your thoughts? It's called 'Missing Brother' and it runs much like yours in paragraph form.
Once again, this is beautifully written. I'm sad to see it end, but I can't wait to read whatever you come up with next. I really love your work. Hopefully, more will be exposed to it.

Beautiful. It was easy to connect to the characters and the overall fic was well put together. I love the visual detail and the description of the objects in the household. :-)

Oh wow. No, I don't think Valka was OOC at all. In this little bit, you seemed to have nailed down a part of her that was always sort of underlined in the movie. You would catch a small glimpse of vulnerability before something else caught up with her and she buried it. That was how I saw it, in any case.
I've seen HtTYD 2 twice now and the second time around I really paid attention to Valka and her facial expressions. She seemed to be hiding a great deal on the inner turmoil behind tiny smirks or small glances. I would catch a glimpse of something . . but then the scene would change or she would move and it would be gone. Yet, there was always something in Valka's eyes that seemed to speak of . . well . . something I just can't quite place.
Emotional turmoil and guilt, I suppose.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into it. In any case, this little bit reminded me of what I saw in Valka in the movie and I'm glad you captured it. I've sort of been searching around to see if anyone else has picked up on it yet. You and a few choice other, I'm glad to say, have.
Also, I'm glad you included the little dragon doll from the series. That really hit it home, I think. Well done!

I agree. I don't think they put enough emphasis on the fact that Stoick had died. Yes, it was rushed and I wished I saw a bit more grief at the end. However, this little One-shot here really dives deep into Hiccup's emotions. Now that he has an open window with nothing to occupy his time or his mind, he finally lets go.
And the price he paid was most heavy indeed.
