I don’t normally write reviews but I did want to say that this was incredibly well written and it really moved me and I wanted to thank you for writing something so beautiful

I've just found your stories, so pleased I've come across them. I find your drawing of Valentine scarily accurate as a portrait of an abusive man.

If I didn't doubt hugely that would use fan , I would swear up and down this is her work. It sounds so REAL! I'm still a little unsure. In short, I wish there were more stories written like yours.

Reread this whole story again in one sitting because it really is quite good. It makes me want more though, but I do like what you did and how you tied things up here. It works really well.

Oh wow- this was fabulously written and conceived. I agree with your depiction of Valentine's intent - for people's emotions are never simple and unconflicted. Well done! Will there be more chapters?

I love how you write the characters' inside thoughts!
I also can't wait for your AU story!

Wow...this was soooo good, that I'm clamor in for more. You are an excellent writer/storyteller!

Great chapter!
I liked that you made Jace have the Morgenstern ring back. In lots of ways I think it belonged more to him than Clary.

Unbelievable...such a great scene playing out, with a perfect setting, and then you set up for something to happen to them. His balance is excellent. Hers, not so much. And what angst...as powerful as this is from Clary's point of view, from Jace's would be almost too much to write.

Those second two chapters really do need to be read together...the break at the first was natural, but more detail helped a lot. I like the introspective look we get from Clary about the two of them and their worlds. I wanted something like this at the end of book three, but was surprised to see it get lost in a new adventure.

You write this quite well, like you can see the picture of what's happening.

Wow. Not quite the scene I was expecting, but very telling. Love talented Jace trying something difficult, and finally succeeding. And we know that Jace is younger than Valentine told him, so not nearly nine, but more like barely eight as his birthday is sometime in January, not near Easter as he originally thought.

So glad you are further exploring their relationship. My heart breaks for Jace. You make him more real, relatable. Even more so than in the books, but still totally in character. This chapter is my favorite so far - you really get a sense of that knifes edge that Jace is hanging on to and what a dangerous place he is in emotionally. Glad he has Clary to see him through it.

Nunc dimittis.

That is why I’ve been compulsively writing these stories. Their relationship is the buried heart of the series, as far as I’m concerned: what gives it such a devastating grip on the imagination. But it’s so subtly, glancingly hinted at in the books. You feel it instinctively, but you have to look twice, three times to see it. These fics have been an attempt to get clear in my own mind what “heart heard of, ghost guessed.” I’m so happy that it’s managed to come across in my story.

Sophie –– well, you just so made my day! That is the ultimate compliment. Thank you!
