'Dark as Snow' is probably one of the best fanfics I've ever read. 'Frozen' and 'The Bloody Chamber' may be at the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to modern, feminist fairy tales (Frozen is upbeat and family friendly, The Bloody Chamber is dark and gory), but they are combined really skilfully here, with the key characters from Frozen (i.e Anna, Kristoff, Hans, Elsa and Sven) being brilliantly incorporated into the narrative of The Bloody Chamber. The author is so good at building the tension and atmosphere which a story like this needs in order to be effective. The descriptions are terrific, and the characters are all memorable and well-developed.
Anna in particular is a terrific protagonist - the author really gets inside her head, and we care about her and root for her to get a happy ending. Kristoff is a likeable character, bringing warmth and passion to an incredibly dark story, whilst this version of Hans (who is turned from the backstabbing opportunist of the film into the ultimate abusive husband) is legitimately terrifying. If I have one minor issue with this story, Elsa's role is smaller than I would have liked (I understand that it's hard to give her much of a role until the climax, but I would have liked to see a few more flashbacks before she returns to the story in Chapter 10). However, her character is pretty inspiring, as she faces up to her demons in order to protect Anna from Hans. I also really like the feminist messages of this story, as Anna realises how false and destructive her initial perceptions of love (submit long enough, and you'll gain a happy ending) actually are, and gains the courage to stand up to Hans...
Overall, I can't praise 'Dark as Snow' highly enough. Professional-quality stories like this make me glad I read fanfiction...

What a creepy, horrifying yet exciting story. Well written, excellent pacing and a worthy conclusion. I loved how you portrayed the characters, with their arcs and changes. Elsa didn't have very much presence here, but understandable, since she would have thrown a wrench into the development of things. Great story.

You don't how much I enjoyed this story. Itmade me cary, it made me laugh, it made hate Hans so much (at least this Hans) and it made me so happy to see the happy ending. I don't normally like those but Anna deserved one after all what had happened to her. GREAT STORY

So when I first came across this story I though "Frozen trashy romance novel? Count me in!", only to be pleasantly surprised at how great your writing is! I love how you've taken the story and the characters and made them you're own yet somehow keeping them true to their origins. I was worried at first at how frosty you had Anna be towards Elsa until I thought about it over breakfast (an amazing way to start the day I might add!) and I realized it was really unrealistic of anyone to be peppy and happy around someone who had been so emotionally neglectful. I LOVE how you've taken away Elsa's supernatural elements and still made her frozen and all the more sad. Like I generally feel more towards her character now than I ever had. Anna's need to escape and getting so quickly trapped in such a cruel marriage was so on point...though I wonder if Hans has a more sinister reason for their marriage other than his need to dominate...he def killed his first wife, absolutely no question in that. Anna and Kristoff...they're just so perfect and so sad! I can't imagine finally finding someone you can't bare to be without right after you've married a monster.
Anyways, loved the little Beauty and the Beast moment you had earlier with the soup, and can't wait to continue reading!

I'm sorry I just can't. This is beautiful. This is a sheer work of art that needs to be published officially. This is so gorgeous I can't even. This is real love, this is how it happens, this is what it's like to be hurt and heal, and it's beautiful. That one line when Kristoff said "Stay with me now sweetheart" broke me, and I started crying because they are just so perfect for each other. It doesn't make sense for me to feel so deeply about fake characters, but I do because though the characters are fake this is real- the process, the effects, the emotions, all of than anyone can imagine, they were meant to be, and you have illustrated their process of falling in love so delicately and truthfully. I love you for writing this. This is amazing. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. God blessed you so amazingly with this wonderful talent that you should thank him every day for. Just- wow. I am applauding you right now.

I am glad to say that this one was better. A whole lot. I think it is because here we only have the narrative to read and it shines on its own. Very good. Like I said in a previous review, you have that writing style down, it's the character building that was a bit lacking.

Well this just keeps getting dumber and dumber. All these characters acting not very smartly so the plot moves forward. I really want to like the story, really as you have very good choice of words and style of narration. It's just that stuff happened way too fast for it to be remotely believable. Anna got married in a day and then fell in love with another man in two days, just like that and finally went against the marriage completely in a little more than a week. That just makes her come off as weak and fickle. And the only character that is consistent so far is Hans.
Hopefully it gets better.

Again, Krisroff and Anna are getting too close and attached too fast. Especially Kristoff. It seems unnatural. Also, Anna seems to have her priorities messed up as I am sure she has every reason now to want to be alone above Hans' company.

Interesting so far but Kristoff was a bit too conveniently forthcoming and agreeable for me. Seems OOC.
