for The Roboutian Heresy

Not gonna lie, for quite a few of the last couple of chapters I was like "okay, Chaos is due for winning one of the battles" and in some cases they came pretty close. But at the same time there was a sense of "we got some genuine heroes looking out for the Imperium here. They're at least not going to go down like chumps."

Unlike everyone else, the Arbites get pretty thoroughly castigated by Magnus's opening narration and there really wasn't a proper "hero" among them. So yeah I went going "pretty sure these guys are being set up so we don't feel too bad when they lose."

Not that they were getting thrown under the bus entirely. I mean Aveliza got to at least blueball Ishidur's sense of satisfaction about the whole thing.

Three chapters to go, and it's been one hell of a ride.

Finally an Imperium defeat, was not expecting to be the judges, but ell now the Angel's War became far more interesting. Wonder if the Violator's are Slaneesh triumph card.

Cheers to you Zahariel! Yet again you have crafted a most compellingly exciting story here, keep it up!

Poor Judges.

Finally caught up on this epic tale, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Who would thought that just the simple spoken “Liar” would be my one of my fav quotes. As the Angel War is coming to fruition, i wonder how terrible of cataclysm the the black crusade coming to break the Iron Cages will inflict. Also you mentioned Ciaphas is on Cadian right? I hope he becomes a living saint out of irony.

Also noticed that this is 66th chapter with 6666 words too. Great!

Probably the first time in angel war when Chaos has won and it's appropriate that it would be Violators, 'truest' sons of Sanguinius.

Before i read the chap, 6,666 words for this chapter? Should i be worried?

Hm. I think the Fabricator-General went out a bit too easy for this fight, and the Martians as a whole could've used a bit more description in how they fought. Still a great chapter, just wondering why it seemed to go that way.

I've really enjoyed the Angel War. I recall you saying a while ago that it was kinda thought up as a whim but you stuck with your idea of six hosts and six Greater Daemons and it's been incredibly exciting. Some might be upset that so far the Imperium has managed to clutch out a win in every theater of the war, but not without impossibly steep costs in some places.

In spite of that, I especially enjoyed how well the Assassins dealt with the Innocent. Those guys are jobbers supreme in 40K lore normally, so to see them almost casually deal with a full-on assault on their HQ in the kind of overall shitfest of the Angel War was extraordinarily satisfying. As were all the other instances of non-Space Marine forces saving the day.

Not that Barban Falk's return was any less satisfying, mind you. Stumbling onto ideas that you didn't realize you set up is always great, and extra love given to those earlier, somewhat underdeveloped Legions is great too.

Love this series so damn much and glad to see you post once more.

Regarding Alexey, I find myself thinking back to the original Ollanius Pious lore, where he was just some random dude who did his duty for the Emperor, dying on his feet and holding the line against the enemy to the best that he could. When I first read the original summary of your Heresy years ago, it did strike me as a disappointment that Pious wasn't there... though the payoff in the Alpha Legion chapter was absolutely glorious, in a Legion that has always been my favorite regardless of being traitorous or loyal.

But I do agree with the sentiment of some people that, in general, Ollanius lost something in 40K's official lore when he was re-introduced as something more than just an ordinary person just doing everything he could in a war far above his weight limit. And seeing just more instances random people in over their head, barely understanding what is happening (and attempts to process it likely to just drive them to utter madness), and just trying to do the right thing have an influence beyond what Chaos can account for feels like it fits in right at home with the themes of the Roboutian Heresy, and especially the Angel War in specific.

After all, the Emperor's sacrifice was to give all of His followers a fighting chance. Not just the Primarchs and the Astartes. Not just the Living Saints. Not just the Inquisitors. But everyone, down to random people that ware seen as so insignificant and oblivious to the threats they face that they couldn't *possibly* do anything. Because they do have value and the Emperor's faith and love for them is entirely justified.
