I can see how people might think this is sweet, but the more I think about about it, the less sense it makes and the worse it gets. It starts off fine and has an interesting enough set up, though I was immediately concerned that it would never be able to satisfactorily explain what was going on, and I was right. There was never any explanation for how or why anything happened, and especially not for Cedric's motivations. And it doesn't even have an ambiguous "was it all real or not" ending (though I suspect that might have been the intent), because parts of the story are Cedric's point of view, so we know it's real.
But the part that really broke this story for me was when neither Hermione nor Cedric had their wands with them in the flashback. There was no logical reason why they shouldn't have had them, and that told me that this story was more concerned with telling a story the way it wanted to instead a way that actually makes sense, and that hardly ever works.

I'm a little confused with the last part though, and my poor English doesn't help one bit. Did the cottage disappear? Could you explain a bit more?
Your story: A Familiar Place, is one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read. I added it to my community, and my Favorites. I'm certainly going to read part two and three. I'm sure they're as beautiful as it was.
