This is just lovely! I think I like the apology chapter best - with Anne apologizing for long-ago misdeeds and Gilbert realizing that perhaps he shouldn't have gone through with a proposal she begged him not to make. You're a good writer and do a beautiful job of making this fit in canon.

I have loved reading this! Thank you for filling the gaps. Reading the books I knew more had to have transpired and used my own imagination but this was much better! When I read the books again some day I will think about this story before reading the last chapter of AoI.

You capture the characters so accurately. And you story also provides a reason for why Anne attempts to distract Gilbert when he begins to talk of his dreams: Anne had all but told him she loved him and Gilbert had had the opportunity to tell Anne that he wasn’t engaged to Christine, but hadn’t. I had always wondered why Anne had attempted to distract him and your story establishes a perfect reason: she doesn’t want to hear that Gilbert loves another. Your attention to detail is wonderful. In my humble opinion, there are so few FF authors who stay true to LLM characters and write in a style that is faithful to the books, you achieve both! Thank you for providing us with more Anne.

Do you know how utterly perfect this story is? It is soooo good! I think LMM takes such a huge leap from the chapter where Anne gets her revelation to the final book where Gil proposes. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that Anne and Gil hadn't talked about Christine, for one. But reading your story, it's all there... I can really understand Anne's doubts and fears. And even Gilbert who is quite cautious with his feelings. I'm always surprised though that they don't kiss or even talk about a relationship before becoming engaged, but of course that was the times. Anyway, seriously, your story has made my understanding and love for this Anne series richer. :-) thank you.
