More perfection! The brothers are so in character!
THIS: "It wasn't often you would see Fíli without bloodied knuckles and bruised cheeks, a sniffling Kíli trailing behind his furious brother, babbling his thanks through hiccupped sobs. Uncle had told him more than once that Kíli needed to learn to stand up for himself, but Fíli could never bring himself to leave his brother to the cruelty of others."
YES YES YES.
and, I can picture younger Fili putting himself under a terribly, naively self imposed burden of always acting like a perfect prince/never disappointing his uncle, to the point where he just finally up and cracks one day and decides he simply cannot be the prince, he cannot take it any longer. Then of course, Thorin has to love on him and get through to him that it'll all be okay, he'll never be disappointed in him, and he needs to stop, oh dear sturdy Fili, stop being so hard on yourself.

I LAUGHED SO MANY TIMES WHILE READING THIS. Oh my goodness... so many fabulous witty moments. You should write more cheerful fics to keep the angst at bay!

I had a good chuckle at this fic! Of course you can write fun things and you do so beautifully. Those silly boys. You managed to weave so many little anecdotes into this; it was a real joy to read. At first I was a bit confused when the setting changed all of a sudden, but then I really enjoyed the second bit. Oh Fíli… Glad to see Thorin be understanding and kind. But him and Dwalin… really, how drunk did those two get? Poor Dís, she has to put up with a lot of kids!
