"AO3 has spoiled me."
As a writer sure it's nice from a tools perspective, but from a reader's perspective it's a pain in the ass to find something good to read there. Plus, for content, it's really more of a slashgirl site in the sense that it's full of slash fics. There are no good options on AO3 for finding new fics to read without having to wade through tons of slash.
Here if you look at people's favorites you'll find relatively little slash yet it's the complete opposite on AO3. Slash is just the most blatant example. There's overlap, but mostly it's an entirely different site as far as the type of fics on it. is more fics where people are trying to simply tell a good story, as in something entertaining to read. AO3 is more for people who think they are writing avant-garde literature. The problem with that is that most weird shit is just weird shit and not a good story in the same sense that the original canon was for whatever it's based on.
All the main sites are good for something. Spacebattles is great for Worm fics, but still has by far the largest audience. Post your fics only on AO3 if that's the only audience you want, but it's missing out on more than half of your potential audience it you compare page view metrics.
