I usually avoid angst, but the Doctor has more than enough right to feel depressed! If 1000 years of grief and loss had fallen on me I would be too! I couldn't last a fraction of that time.
I hope that one (or several) of his incarnations are drawn to him, by themselves or their TARDIS. Eight in particular tends to lurk in that time and he's an empath.
