Huh. Well, that's an interesting reveal. I've read ahead from here but I thought I'd kinda answer your...very old request lol.
This is a very interesting chapter, and indeed, story! I've been quite enjoying it. How the characters are (mostly), the nature vs kind-of-nurture, the friendship between Hictooth...
Really enjoyable read so far. Hope you'll do a sequel one day, if there was one planned.

Good story. Definitely deserves its place on the r/httyd recommended fanfic list.
Grammer sometimes leaves a little to be desired and I feel that Hiccup behaves a little OOC (pun intended?) but I don't know how he could've been written differently so that the plot can happen. I don't think he should've been so complacent in the first parts of the story with all the things that were just happening to and around him.
It seems like there's two different dragon!Hiccup's: animalistic and intelligent. Animalistic!Hiccup is especially seen in his interaction with Stormfly and intelligent!Hiccup is seen after he leaves the island. Is that like him slowly getting his mind back or something?
I like the buildup in Toothless' realizations. It's gradual, which is nice.

Fantastic story! It was a very enjoyable read and if you ever make a sequel, which you slightly set up, I would read it in a heartbeat. The whole idea was great, and the execution was fantastic. A really entertaining and slightly thought provoking story.
