NOt bad. I kinda expected Shino to put up a little more of a fight, but then again this is an expected outcome. Now onto the Kyuubi/Shukkakku match, that's going to be fun.

Yeah, Temari really leveraged her advantage here, and Shino just couldn't overcome that disparity. On the other hand, I feel like Temari could've been a bit more proactive, keeping the pressure on Shino, though keeping her calm and countering everything to outlast him is a valid strategy. It just gave Shino more chances, which a more experienced Temari probably would've avoided.
I guess part of Temari's grump is that she knows she probably won't get to that second match she technically just earned, so this was her only chance to strut her stuff and bask in the adoration of the crowd before the Invasion starts and she has to get to work. I'm really excited to see what Temari's unease and guilt about those plans will lead her to do once the time comes, and if she's going to do something before Orochimaru reveals himself as having replaced Rasa.

Only way I can think of that would've allowed him to win, would've been if he had access to the Headhunter jutsu.
Pulling her underground would allow his bugs to start draining her and it costs quite a bit of chakra to break that jutsu as well.
And a ninjutsu specialist is dependent upon their chakra reserves to be a threat.
So that would either be a win or put her at a severe disadvantage.
Going underground again, would then force her to take to the sky, but that would put a further drain on her reserves and then it becomes a waiting game till she runs out.

Good to see Temari and Shino bringing their A game for the Chunin exams. And planning around both the opponents faced and the invasion to come. And yes, I do get the impression that Naruko gave him a subtle warning comparable to the ones she gave Tenten and Neji. It just makes sense, given the threat to come. Side note. I wonder if anyone fighting Otochimaru ever tried to impede his "barf up a new body when his current one gets too injured" jutsu by over stuffing his mouth. The thought came to me after a recent reread of this story. And with it, an idea for a potential encounter where Sakura sets up a water clone between Sasuke and Orochimaru to possibly help her crush damage the Snake Sannin with a lightning jutsu. And then aiming a water jutsu down his throat to see if that slows him down. Maybe a variation of the starch syrup restraints she used against Kiba in the prelims. Maybe the sticky anti friction bubbles Naruko used against Kiba back when she sparred with him and his teammates to see if Kakashi actually got serious about teaching them. Maybe something else entirely.

Good to see a new chapter my dude. Your story is probably on of the best Female Naruto stories I've read. Love the build up to the sound/sand invasion. Looking forward to the next chapter man. :)
