Wow - that's sad! I can't imagine a Fili without a Kili beside him! So emotional. But I do like how Kili liked Apples. I like apples. Not my fav, but they're good.

YOU HAVE SLAIN ME. Oh God, I can't handle this—the scene in which they found Kíli really got me... I actually had to get up and walk around my room for a minute to control myself. And then when Fíli was in the barrel that smelled of apples... and then the ending... you've... you've destroyed me emotionally, Beth. I'm dead inside now and it's ALL YOUR FAULT. *tearful gasps* crap I think I'm going to start crying again I CAN'T STOP CRYING I HATE YOU.
*weeps into oblivion*

This was a really interesting (and terribly depressing) alternate childhood. Your writing is fantastic and I love how you wrote Fili as almost both forgetting his brother, and then haunted by him at the same time. Such a great heartwrenching piece.

This is about death and sad things, but you had me chuckling all the way. Just a few things I particularly liked:
1. Apple wine. Bad experiences with. Heheheheee...
2. Bifur shouting out Khuzdul orders for Fíli's toy soldiers. Such a beautiful image.
3. Elven cuisine. That entire Rivendell bit is just wonderful.
4. That final chat with Thorin... I love how that's all Uncle Thorin just one last time.
5. I can't help thinking that soon Fíli will be with Kíli again after he has seen more and more of him. What a reunion that would be!
