It is beautiful and tranquil, the way you wrote, even though war was written numerous times. Tre Corde, you have a way with words, and fitting it to exactly 1000 words per nation, it's amazing. I hope this gets continued, but if it doesn't... well I understand.

Sorry that there is little/no organization here, but:

I love the incorporation of the tale of Austria's flag~ I believe that Latvia has a similar one, in which a wounded general is laid upon a white cloth, staining it red around him. Or something like that.

"All the world is subject to Austria" - reference to the AEIOU motto? Except with a different translation? Or is it something else entirely and I've remembered incorrectly?

Red fits so well here. Not only with war, passion, and power, but also love (marriages) and danger (falling empire).

The musical descriptions made me smile. The "trumpets", "drumbeats", "like a song", "dissonant", and "staccato" (I've probably missed a few) were very nice.

"They are all flies in this web of war" – Love this line

Theme: Austria's flag represents his war and peace? (I love how well the colours work with this)

I did not notice that the "Southern Cross" can reference so many different flags until I read this. Huh.

"Behind a stockade, Australia flies the Southern Cross, crying eureka," I believe, is a reference to Australia's Eureka Flag? And I suppose that Australia's rebellion reminded England of America, then.

Turkey's offered handshake could be a reference to the war memorial and reconciliation between the two?

The Aborigines of Australia were not treated particularly well, if I recall. Nice touch with Dreamtime and the Rainbow Serpent. I like that Australia is proud of them and the culture that is unique to him, and also feels bad for playing a part in destroying them.

Theme: Australia's flag represents his history?

I actually read these a week or so ago but haven't had time to properly do some huge reviews. So, here you go, in no particular order:

An amazing amount if historical references and such are scattered in here, which delights me. Unfortunately the USA is not one of my major areas of knowledge and so I couldn't connect that many ' (What happened in 1772 and 1774 lol) I think the others were the Declaration, the Star Spangled Banner, Civil War, Cold War, moon landing, Agent Orange/Vietnam War, and 9/11?

The line "Sea-worn England sails white-pine ships carved from America's heart" was probably my favourite. I'm sorry to say that I can't pinpoint exactly why.

The overall message that I ended up with was that America's proud of his flag (of course), as it has been with him for so long and represents his heroism. It has seen bad things and it has seen good; it has been through so much and represents Alfie and his ideals. I feel like I'm missing something due to my lack of US history knowledge though?

Anyhow, I will slowly progress to review the other chapters too~

asdfghjkl, I'm so glad I decided to check this fic out. Your fics are always so well researched and just, I have no words. This chapter really stirred up my love of history and my Aussie patriotism.

these are all so impeccably connected! hetalia is a really symbolic fandom, and the history of the flags is really fitting to match with these characters. i love the historical references here, and your characterization of the nations in so few words is really striking. this is a very distinctive piece!

Oh my gosh, yes! All those allusions to history, all those references tying each drabble together so neatly... Gah, it tugs at my heart strings.
I'm very glad you've shown the rarely-seen side of Austria: the fighter. And I'm especially glad you didn't characterize him as the wimp who can't run a mile without collapsing. There's so much more to him than that.
Anyway, your writing never ceases to amaze, and have a wonderful day!

... It's gorgeous, as usual *sobs* (becauseotherwiseI'matacompletelossforwords.) - Siri
PS: Congratulations, you have now made it on the list of authors whose stories I reread. I could count those on one hand :)

This is really interesting! I love how the historical events are described!:D

(Ahem. Pardon the...weebishness(?))
This concept is just superb. I can fully agree that nations would have extremely tight connections to what their flags say-honestly, isn't the flag designed to show the soul of a nation, what it really stands for?
And also, your writing. ASDF I just don't know how you do it. It's amazing and the whole thing is just great and aaa I'm going to keep repeating myself so I'll just stop here.
Thank you for writing!

... Ouch. This is part of why America's one of my favorite characters. He usually acts so cheerful that sometimes it's hard to remember that even the most upbeat nations have personally been through the worst things history has to offer. I really like that section with England, though. Those two are one of my many Hetalia brotp's :D Rather hoping that you'll update this one soon, too, I'm interested to know what you'll do for the other countries :) - Siri

And now I'm trying not to cry in class, but you're still an excellent person. I find it very hard to read 9/11 stories from America's perspective, it makes my heart hurt. All that I've read from you is always very well written; if it's comedy, it's hilarious, if it's deep and serious, I always have to think rather hard about it. It's refreshing to find Hetalia writers that actually care about history; I feel like a bad history major sometimes because I ignore history sometimes in order to further my own purposes in fanfiction. Regardless, please do continue, because I really did love this.
