As a bi man looking for malexmale stories, I'm usually wary of female writers, being that there's a lot of fetishisation of same-sex romance for the opposite side of the binary (/plenty/ of sludge for lesbians, too), and I'm already wary enough of fandom for Japanese things as a Japanese person.
That being said, you seem painfully aware to write your characters as human, and also, your world building is better than most anyone would bother for a fanfic, being a "lesser form" of authorship (to which debate I always raise, "but isn't it harder to keep someone else's characters IC than define your own?")
Your OCs, the chief, the priest, were enjoyable, something most OCs aren't; many fans cringe at the mention of one).
I usually don't bite fantasy/pre-modern AUs for this fandom, at all, but I saw a couple of very cute headcanon posts on tumblr, where I have a poorly-maintained roleplay blog. And I sat on the consideration.
In the end, I bit, and let me say, this was quite a page turner.
As much as I eagerly await updates, first and foremost, I wish you well on your studies-medical studies are the most intense and expensive out there, and I hope you use what little free time you have to care for yourself; don't fall into the college insta-food and skimp on sleep trap, being a future medical professional, you know what that can do to your health.
Fans tend to await updates eagerly but everything will still be here after exams. Good luck, and study well.
