Wow! Heartwrenching! I love Splinter’s relationship with the boys and here you worded it so beautifully. Well done!

Glad you're back and writing again! This was beautiful, heartbreaking, and very well written. Curious that you chose to take them when they were still only 5 from an illness. I suppose that's quite realistic for what they would have gone through before they made human allies. Well done! :)

Very sorrowful little tale, Red. I enjoyed it. I felt the cold of that penetrating rain. The moisture seeping into my imagined joints so much as Splinter's described grief did. I felt his burden of his loss, saw his bent back as he hobbled along. Excellent. So happy you're back! Can't wait to read all your updates. And I hope you have a productive and wonderful NEW YEAR!

I think you wrote a twist without you even realizing it. As I was reading this, I was thinking it was about 2k12 splinter's grief over losing his wife and daughter. Then I realized it was his sons, but as I read on I realized this was set in the 2k3 universe. I like that you set in in the 2k3 universe since so many are writing in the 2k12 universe. Don't get me wrong, I love the new series, but I grew up with the 2k3 universe. Anyway, the emotions were great as you created a dark empty atmosphere with reminded me of the sewer

Hey, Rebel, nice to see you back. I'm sorry life has been hard for you, but I hope that things are better now. Sometimes writing things out can help. As for this piece, I loved it and can see this possibly happening. At first when I was reading this I thought this was set in the Nickelodeon universe, but when you talked about Splinter mourning for a master, I knew it was set in the 2003 universe. Still, it was very sad and very well-written as Splinter mourns the loss of his sons. Nicely done on this. And once again, good to see you back. Have a shelltastic holiday.

This was really beautiful. I liked the reveal at the end about their ages; I for one immediately imagined this further down the timeline, so when I kept reading and realized that was not the case, it hit all the harder. The way he lost them was the thing that really brought it home, though. At first it was sad, but in the end it was heart-wrenching.
Lovely job, and it's good to see you writing again. :) And know there's never any need to apologize for putting off something to deal with difficult things. I'm just glad you are doing well enough that you are able to do something you love again.
