Indeed. But let's take under consideration that Dumbledore was his friend along with all the order of the phoenix members. He was loved by many but he went through so much like you said. He wanted to protect harry, since he couldn't protect Lily which can be viewed as an apology for his wrong doings towards lily. He loved the potter family very much and he would die for them. He did find peace the moment he died...
