Amy needs to make an official complaint. While physically abusing the badged bigots is fun, they still have his plate and vehicle description. Amy needs to go to the PRT and cite the unwritten rules to get all that quashed. Personally, I'd enjoy a whole chapter about those two getting some professional comeuppance. I mean, it's not like they're gonna have to pay for that cruiser themselves. The PRT making an actual federal case about it might cost them their badges. Make them pay, please.

Hm, that actually explains a lot. Though I wonder how things might have occurred differently if the shards had been motivated to generate something other than conflict. Granted, there might be times where conflict is an indirect result, but at least the new data gained from those conflicts might be more interesting. I think.

I really dislike your interpretation that being a parahuman almost completely strips you off agency because they control you. It makes much of the characterization not matter because almost all can he explained away with "shard made me do it". It feels like the personality of the character's doesn't matter because of that. Not to mention it's not like that in the books in the slightest, especially as ward thoroughly explored the extend of shards influence oh their hosts.

Do you really think your stories are improved by politicizing them with issues you know little to nothing about? In one prior case you just outright attacked some number of your readers, here you get some of the severe problems with US police *really* wrong, and to what end? Do you care how many people read your stories?

The issue of free will is a huge one, both in Worm and in Real Life, I love that you talked about it so clearly here.
And the banter between Amy and Michael is of course as priceless as ever.
Just your normal everyday criminal cops can really put a crimp in your style. I was tense as hell at the end there.

Carol may be a bitch to Amy but it looks like she did try to shelter her a little too much from the "real world," that or she just never paid proper attention. Sadly, there is currently a lot of resistance to teaching our children about the systemic racism of the past and present. About the only good thing that happened was that Brian fell out of the car and did his bleeding outside of it. Amy's illusions about cops being shattered is one of those good/bad things that sometimes crop up in life.
I did notice that it doesn't seem that Amy told Lisa, or any of the Undersiders, about what she just figured out about parahuman powers thanks to Michael's prodding. Kind of makes one wonder if it was entirely her decision or a "gut" choice.
In either case, I hope her plan to turn Bonesaw pans out and I'm already looking forward to the next chapter to see what happens next. Especially if Carol catches her sneaking back in and a drowsy Vicky says, "Oh, hi Brian." and causes Carol's head to explode.

Definitely a more cynical chapter; I don't know that I completely agree with your take on people and how they interact, but there's at least some truth to it.
As for the situation with Brian...I only wish that was more unrealistic.
