I love this- a culmination of a few story ideas all rolled into a one-shot :) Excellent job!

The end was funny. ;)
It's just so easy to picture Kili getting into a fight like that. Silly dwarf. Kili and defending honor seem to just go hand-in-hand even if he knows he probably can't win.

good story I liked the Kili sticking up for Thorin part. It ended a little too soon. I would have liked to see Thorin and Dwalin go beat the guy to a pulp for hurting Kili and fighting dishonorably.

Nice little slice of life. Guess Fili couldn't help adding that last little part?

You're writing angst again! 8) I don't know how to handle it ... I'm so happy!
Kili is an idiot - a noble one, but I feel like C'MON JUST - STAY OUT OF ROTTEN PLACES WHEN YOU HAVE FILI'S MONEY! Grr. Really annoyed at the person who hit him, but also annoyed that he was in that spot to begin with. (I'm also writing this at five in the morning right after I got up, so I may not be writing coherently - or reading coherently, for that matter.)
BTW, quick note - the story doesn't say "complete." Is there possibly going to be another one-shot bit added?
You know what, Kili, nevermind. "I am not sorry for what I did. I am only sorry I lost the fight." Give me a nice giant bouncy ball to bounce off your head for being a total nincompoop. Yes, you're being a total Dwarf who is defending his and his family's honor, but seriously? Augh! Okay, I know I'm starting to rant at Kili now, which isn't the point of the story. Bah! Forget it, my brain is in a fog anyways. I'll revisit this later after I've had coffee. ;) Loved the story, and I really want to see more angst soon! 8)

I'm with Dís! Guys and their stupid "honour"... And she is left to patch them back together as usual... bah! Nothing honourable about broken bones... That having been said, Thorin's "next time, make sure you win" made me chuckle. I can just imagine the look on his face as he says that trying to balance his desire to just go "Yeah, you go, mate!" with his responsibility as an authority figure.
Your portrayal of the way the Dwarves and Men interact rings very true with the Gandalf & Thorin scene from the movies, the moment when Thorin just kind of sighs "here we go again" as he reaches for his sword. I enjoyed getting an insight into that aspect of their life in exile!
Three gold... well, Fíli, looks like you've got yourself a bit of slave labour right there for the next little while!
