A very exciting start to this story! Nicely reluctant heroes and uh-oh...a man who wants payback. Great pacing and love how the setting comes to life. Off to read more! (And not sure why it took me so long to find this story!)

Part sof it remind me of a cleansing ceremony in The Plains of Passage", by Jean Auel. But yours is far stronger and powerful!

1That Elf Girl
When I first saw the summary for this fic, I didn't know if I'd be able to read it since non-con can be very upsetting to me, but I wanted to see how the subject matter was handled in the Durin family.
Well, it *was* very upsetting. I felt sick and wanted to cry as I read about Kili's assault and ended up walking away from the screen a couple of times before I could finish reading it.
That's *not* a criticism. It's a compliment on the power of your writing.
Although it was difficult to read about such a bright, loving spirit as Kili enduring so much trauma, I found this fic to be a beautiful healing journey as it progressed. Your writing shows an excellent grasp of both PTSD and traumatic brain injury, and the steps in the recovery process outlined here seem spot-on. There's a universal quality to the events and character reactions depicted so that I don't think you'd even have to be a Tolkien fan to benefit from reading this story, especially if your own life has been touched by violence or abuse.
It made sense to me that Thorin would struggle with sensitivity to Kili and Fili because he'd worked so hard to repress a trauma of his own, and I liked how the turning point for him came when he was able to relive that trauma and realize that burying it is often not the best solution. And then the healing ceremony was very creative and deeply touching. I loved the cleansing with water and fire, the new braids, and the new name, and it was lovely that this ceremony was also used to resolve Kili's insecurity about his worth and position within the family, which predated the rape and undoubtedly magnified his reaction to it.
If I had any criticism of this fic, it would be minor-I thought Kili seemed younger than 70, both in terms of maturity and in relation to the timeline of The Hobbit. If dwarves reach physical maturity around 40, I would think mid-adolescence for Kili would be somewhere between 50 and 60. And given that he's the lighthearted character we know just seven years later in AUJ, I would think more time would've passed between the assault and the start of the quest. But that's just me being nitpicky.
This is an extremely well written fic, as healing as it is heartbreaking, and I hope some more ideas will come to you in the future.

This is a really interesting story so far, I wonder how long it will be until Kili finds out what happened to him. It's great how you had him going to Bofur and Bifur to talk, and I found Bifur's case quite interesting.
Although...when Kili was stammering I had to make a conscious effort not to make his voice in my head sound like William Shatner :I
Can'twait to read the rest and see how things proceed! :D

Does Bofur know what happened to Kili.
Who does know what really happened.

Oh, Fili. So sweet. :)
Thank you, Celebrisilweth, for this story.
I like it very much. Now you are one of my favorite authors on this site.
But... WHAAAT? Anything else right now? Noooooo!
Well. You. Must. Write. An. Other. (long, please?). Story. Right now... Done? :P
Ok, ok, I'll be patient, (no, I won't!). I hope you have many other good ideas. I like your style, and I love Kili and Fili. Especially Kili.
You often gave us some Khuzdul.
Now I say you in italian "Mille grazie" (A thousand thanks)

Well, that's B-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t!
I absolutely love the way you used dwarves mythology to create this ceremony and all the great details. The seven dwarves, the fire, the water...
Good, good work!
And Fili is always the best big brother. He always knows how to show all his love for his little brother.
Hehe, I like the name Kilian. It reminds me of Hook's character in Once upon a time. I don't know if you watch it. :) Love that character, (I think he's Irish too, like Aidan Turner).

Oh, Thorin...
In the last chapter, I was very nervous about how the talk with Kili was going to go, especially since Thorin appeared to be getting himself into the "he's just been coddled!" mindset, but then he was actually trying to be sensitive and making headway, and then...triggers. *sad sigh*
I do wonder how this nightmare will affect his approach to Kili - did it give him better perspective? One hopes!

Well, we knew he had a heart. We're just unsure as to where he keeps it. Ha. Very interested to read the last part and did you do any research into certain rituals? Where did your ideas come from? (So cool)

Oh, I love this part. One of my favorite chapters so far. :)
Thorin is right, Fili has suffered too. Devastating indeed, being forced to watch Kili's assault.
I truly appreciate the whole idea of the cleansing ceremony, it seems so dwarvish. I like the solemnity, Thorin's questions, the royal dressing, and Dis thinking of Erebor's splendor and their condition now. But they are still strong and proud. A proud royal family.
This ceremony is a really good idea and a good reason for readers to believe in Kili's eventual healing! Good work!

Wow, a horrible nightmare indeed.
Maybe now Thorin begins to understand the real nightmare, Kili's pain and fear and disgust.
Hello, Thorin! It's about time! :D
Hehe, I can't speak for other readers, but I'm never disappointed in having extra chapters to read, when I like the story. And I'll be very happy if you'll write an other intense, (and long, please?) story. Yeah!
