Well done Kíli! I'm so glad he managed to pull himself together for this, such an important thing that he says the accusation himself.

These. Men. Are. Mad.

Do they believe they can walk in an dwarves' tavern, in a dwarves' village, take a drink and stay alive?
*One cannot simply walk into Ered Luin!* Learn from Boromir, guys.
And they want Kili again! Pure madness. The first time they attacked him I thought they simply wanted revenge. But now... they're are obsessed, especially Brogen. It seems he has a crush for the poor boy. What a awful, dirty man. But a good, good villain. :)

I'm curious to know what will happen now. Is it at this point that Fili "screws up" and makes a big mistake?
Go with chapter 23!

Ah, now that is something that Thorin can do. Probably much easier for him to confront those ruffians than to comfort his nephew.
I always like Balin and Dwalin together, so different and yet so similar. And quite effective when they are working together!

Yeesh, I'm glad Fili finally bought a clue - after Kili started babbling about "those Men" and Fili was still like "Who? What?" it was all I could do to keep from shouting "how thick can you get?!" Seriously, what other Men would have Kili so unglued and on the verge of a panic attack?

Well, hopefully now that his brain is back to functioning, he and Thorin will come up with a good plan.

Eh, eh, I love Bofur in the movies, (great Jimmy Nesbitt)!
I like that in your story Kili goes to his shop when he needs a safe place. Making toys is a wonderful way to calm your nerves. It's very dwarvish, and it reminds me of my childhood. My father liked to build wooden doll houses, little chairs and boats. You made me smile. :)
I also appreciate that, in a previous chapter, Kili went there to have some answers from Bifur about head injuries. I definitely love the Ur family.

Poor, poor boy. What a terrible day! I'm curious to see how Thorin will react.
But Fili is always a great big brother.
I agree with Isky. In the fics Thorin is not the best person of the world. He scowls his nephews, or he's obsessed with the quest...
But it's Thorin. The guy leaves a pale and suffering Kili in Laketown, he wants to punish Bilbo because of the Arkenstone. And in the original story he's not so better. That's Thorin, guys. The strong, proud and flawed exiled king of Erebor. :)

Waiting for chapter 21.

Oh, and as for the previous two chapters - I'm kind of disappointed that Thorin wasn't a little more disturbed by Kili's belief that Thorin would disown him over his rape. I mean, big red flag that there are issues in your relationship! I wish Thorin could get over his emotional constipation for about 5 minutes and assure Kili he loves and believes in him.

I'm with Sol Phyllon on this -though I didn't like that Fili, Dwalin, and Thorin missed Kili's distress, it is an understandable mistake made in the moment - not like weeks/months of lies and deception. I also like the idea of it being Kili's plan - not that I don't want him to have Fili and Thorin to turn to, but hopefully have him start to view himself as capable (because the poor puppy seriously needs some self-esteem).

I want to explain better what I think about Thorin's and Fili's reaction.
It's simply realistic.
Of course I don't like the idea that the two persons you count on don't listen to you when you need them, but the fact is that they don't know he needs them. They're busy and don't see his distress.
Time has passed, Kili is healing, so they are less "alert", they are more relaxed and they think it's possible to come back to normality.
I know this kind of reactions, (I don't know rape's victims, but families with other big problems). You cannot be always alert or worry. It can really destroy you. I saw it happen. So, sometimes your mind, your body, just stop thinking of problems.

Unfortunately, in this story Fili and Thorin choose the wrong moment to not listen. Kili could yell: "No, we talk now. I saw them, do you hear me? The three men that attacked me!" And I'm sure that Fili would have reacted very differently to those words. But Kili was too upset...
Their reaction is not good the one that Kili needed, but it's realistic, so I like it.

I hope I explained better myself. :)

Ehi! Interesting chapter. I like it very much. :)

Ooooh, the villains are back in town! I hate them, especially Brogen. He truly is a horrible man. I can't believe that he touched Kili again. Well, they are good villains if I hate them, aren't they?
Actually, I really like that Thorin and Fili don't see Kili's distress. Let's be honest, sometimes you just want to live your life and not only focus on other people's problems.
That doesn't mean that they are selfish. It's just normal, I think. And I like the last line. Yes, Kili's plan. Not Thorin's or Fili's, but Kili's. Go, Kili!

I appreciate the story and Kili.
I truly hope for stronger reaction from him in the next chapters. And more action. To keep the scenes interesting. I know that Kili's hurt, but reading the previous chapters I feel that there was something more... The story was stronger.
But maybe it's just me. Maybe I like more action and dramatic, fighting and struggling scenes because this is Middle Earth. :)
It's just my opinion and you know where the story goes.

Bye!

:D Oh, grazie (translation: thank you!) :D

Poor Kili indeed! An other horrible nightmare. I like that he goes in the stable and lays against his pony to find some warmth and peace. You're right, he couldn't go into the woods. In the stable he can be alone but safe.
Fili is caring and protective, but you told me something about what he will do...
I can't imagine what will happen now that Kili seems ready to trust him again. I'm very very curious.
5/8/2015 c19 Pericula Ludus
Ah precious Kíli... trusting again will be difficult, even though as an outsider his dream seems so ridiculous — neither Dwalin nor Fíli would act like that. Glad he's allowing Fíli to hold him in the end!
My favourite part was Kíli thinking about leaving the room through the window. Oh I can just picture that! I used to do that as a kid, whether my room was on the ground floor or on the third floor, and it drove my guardians to distraction!

I like the last lines. Fili is definitely the best of the Durins. He's so caring. He was right at the beginning of this mess, because he wanted to say the truth to his brother. And now he stops to talk and simply reassures Kili that he is there for him and he'll wait till Kili will be ready to talk o whatever he will want to do.

I really love Fili. Ok, when he attacked Kili saying "Don't make me hurt you", I wanted to kick his ass. But we all make mistake.

A new chapter soon? With more Kili? Please, young dwarf, it's time to get out of the bed :)

Well, I will give Thorin points for trying for kindness and compassion. And yet (not surprisingly) he was hardly reassuring and possibly made everything worse. *sigh*

I think another thing that is striking me about this is how the others (Fili, Dis, and Thorin) are making it about THEM. It's all about how guilty Fili feels, how sad Dis is, or how lost Thorin is. I know they are saying that they kept the truth from Kili to spare him, but, it seems like it was really about them (well, Thorin) not wanting to have to deal with it, and hoping that if they ignored it, it was going to go back to normal. And that was selfish on many, many levels. I also take exception to Fili saying he was trying to do what was best for Kili, because he sure well knew keeping the truth from him wasn't it.

And Mahal, but they are all doing WAY too much talking and not enough listening. I remember seminars I have attended about helping people who have suffered trauma, and the main thing they tell you: if you are doing more listening than talking, then you are off to a good start. You take the lead from the person who has suffered. Even if the person just wants to sit in silence, then that is what you do. I kind of want them all to shut up and ask Kili what he wants, for once.

Thorin's reaction surprised me too.
He finally chooses the right words and shows his affection. I like that Fili can explain himself and that Thorin says he's proud of his nephew...But Kili is so broken. I still think that, if I was him, I'd try to go away and run and run. So, good choice to explain why he can't do it, (he's exhausted). Because if I was in my bed and all my family came in to talk and talk, I think I could explode and jump out of the window.

I hope he'll try to do something, to go out. Anything! It's a normal reaction, isn't it? Well, we'll see what Dis will say.
