P.S.
The last review, (with the umbrella) is mine. I thought it was lost, but no... here it is!

Ok, I open my umbrella, the storm is here!
Good chapter. It prepares us for what will come. There's Kili's pain, Fili's guilt, Dis' sorrow and Thorin's first doubts, (and hints about his own long lost brother).
Poor Kili. And yes, Thorin, you made a huge mistake.
But, at least, it's clear that the Durins love their boy. That's the thing I like most, especially Fili's love for his brother. :)
I totally agree with you, Isky. The victims are too often blamed for things that they truly could not stop, (nor want). This story is set in Middle Earth, but sometimes I feel like we all still live in a medieval world.

Now I'm looking forward to know how Kili will react. I must say, I'd just want to open the door and run as far as possible from everything and everyone.

Well, whether denial or shame, it certainly is detrimental to Kili. Though he is starting to buy a clue.

See how Kili deals with Thorin? Is it too much to hope Thorin accepts Kili's anger and avoids the urge to go all "I am your King and you will not speak to me that way"? Ah, but what fun would we have if Thorin did/said the right thing?

And to piggy-back a little further on my comment and Sol's...the family going out of their way to hide this and cover it up is just going to confirm for Kili that what he feared in the clearing is true, that Thorin is ashamed of him for having been raped...which, sadly, may not be far from the truth. Thorin strikes me as the type who would have the view that "real men/dwarves don't get raped" (which to be fair, is an unfortunately common belief, even in modern Western culture) and that Kili should have been able to stop it or should have died rather than be so "disgraced." Never mind that Kili basically had to stop fighting to save Fili's life. Whether that is actually his attitude/belief I will leave up to you as the author of these characters.

I'm with Sol Phyllon on this one. Kili having to apologize for perfectly normal (and frankly expected) reactions to touch and for being frustrated and frightened, when he is the ONLY one who doesn't know what happened to him (seriously, both Dis and Thorin being confused about Kili's reactions in the previous chapters was kind of face-palmable)...it definitely gets my blood up. I get that they may be a bit out of their depth here, but this is just a lack of overall sense.

I do feel a bit for Fili though, he is so desperately trying to do the right thing, but Kili finding out that he participated in hiding this from him...Kili is going to feel so betrayed by his brother, and may be angry at him most of all.

This is a very tender moment between the brothers. But it's the quiet moment before the storm, isn't it? A dark and violent storm.

Here my thoughts.
I've never experienced the consequences of a rape, (I thank all the gods in the universe for this), but the more Kili says "Forgive me brother, mother and uncle...", the more I feel angry, (not with you, Celebrisilwelth!)
Forgive HIM?
Jeez, if I was Kili, when the memories come back, I'd be furious with my family. I know they want to protect him and that it's a difficult situation for all of them, but these lies are an other kind of hurt. A sort of betrayal.
Hiding the truth would be for me the proof that they want not to protect me but themselves. And from what? Oh, yes, from my shame and disgrace, (I suppose this after reading the first reaction in the clearing).
And speaking of Fili. His loyalty to his king is honorable, but if I was the distressed Kili, that'd be an other punch in the face, because the elder brother chose the king and not to save him from pain and sadness.

I'm very curious to find out what will happen now. Oh, sorry for the long message. :)

This is a very interesting story, and very well written. It's full of feels, brotherly love and, (I hope), Kili and Fili determination to heal.
I hope you'll continue to update.

P.S.
I love these two brothers, so much. The actors are great, costumes are fabulous... It seems all real. I love, Love The Hobbit, (book and movies).

Thank you

Well...that was handled poorly by everyone.

Poor, poor Kili. I am very glad you've finished this because I think long waits would kill me.

The end of this was so sweet, there's that tiny bit of caring uncle Thorin shining through! He makes a royal mess of things with his inability to tolerate emotions, but in his own way he sure loves those boys and I hope that before the end of this story, they will get to see that.
Kíli hitting his brother... oh dear, he's going to regret that at some point.

OMG...the dam is about to break! Can't wait for more!

So...weren't Thorin and the others going to ride off and get revenge? Is that not happening now?

I'm really enjoying this sweet story! It's great that Kíli is getting some help from somebody who has been there, done that. He'll need it. Physical trauma is one thing, but he's up for much more pain once the emotional issues start to surface. I heartily disagree with Thorin about keeping the truth from Kíli, but well... we'll get a lot of hurt and comfort out of it! Still, Thorin is being a bit of a pillock in all of this. I particularly liked Dwalin bodily removing him from the scene at one point!

Love this story and your writing style!

"Disgrace," Thorin? And let the victim shaming begin...
