I came across this writing site: Storio (storioai dot com). It lets you import stories and turn them into visual branching narratives. Definitely worth a try if you're into writing!

I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for time travel stories and I enjoyed the route this one took. It explored a different avenue of decisions for Harry that felt realistic for a 100 year old man trapped in the life of a teenager. I appreciate the lack of smut while staying by realistic to the content of teenager conversation and I liked the different direction the ending took over other time travel stories.

I appreciate a storyline where Harry does not choose to go back to his second timeline. He chooses to move on like the tired old man he is.

I did not enjoy the story at all. Far too many things that don't make sense and I don't agree with. Still, I stuck around till the chapter where he goes back to Hogwarts, and - on a hunch - I skipped to the ending.

I was glad I did, because I realised this was really a lost cause, and stopped reading immediately.

All your self-justification chapter did for me is to make me promise myself not to read any more fics of yours.

Just contact the DMLE and file s claim of theft and get the damn key back. My God, just do it and stop having Harry be such a wuss

This fic makes me hate hp fanfiction just a bit more. Harry stays consitant yes, but hes literally a fucking bystander in his own story. Id rather hear any other POV but harry’s.

I have been waiting a long time for you to finish this story and I am happy to say it was worth the wait. While I have read dozens of time travel stories over the years this one is very unique and very refreshing in a good way. From the very first chapter you portrayed a Harry who lived a long fulfilling and normal life, you know minus the first 17 years. When offered to do it all over again he said NO. Even when he was ignored and sent back anyway his actions showed his choice did not change. He was at the end of the day an old man that was tired and did not want to go through the BS of life all over again. He did not want to get involved and that lead to his actions being very passive which honestly is his right. You stayed very consistent by writing a Harry that saw this less as a second chance at life to correct mistakes and more as an observer who was dealing with some unavoidable big problems i.e. Voldemort and getting grumpy with people when they did not leave him alone or do what he wants i.e. every old person ever.

The ending I think is the perfect way to close this out. This Harry was never going to be fully satisfied in settling down and making a new life here. At best he would drift along twiddling his thumbs while passing the time with some of his new friends. At the same time he was never one to run or simply give up. Giving him a heroic death fighting till the end and giving Tom one last FU fit perfectly. He did his part to help and when his time to move on came he did so gladly just like he wanted to do in the very first chapter.

Fuck, this Harry is pathetic.

I'm sure you got quite a few people pissy about your characterization of Harry

But I was a big fan. As you say, it was very nice and interesting to see a "realistic" characterization contrasting the army of super Harry stories. It was distinctive enough that I came back every few years to give it a reread because i knew with your story it would not be same old stuff.

So great job!

Well oddly glad I found this fic after it ended. Got to binge read start to end. The main appeal especially now is the fact it was the opposite of overpower god Harry/mc fics. Often with the harem trope slapped on with I swear the mentality is like pokemon catch em all, but replace catch with f*** when authors write fics these days. Girls besides maybe the first one, sometimes second well might as well be well date them/slept now into the background/box you go. I seen so many fics start decent and end up going to crap as soon as the power fantasy harem tropes enter. I would note HP and Naruto are probably two series I have a little more tolerance for it to a degree. The world settings in both do enable those scenarios bit more due to the bad childhood/all the secrets kept from them background of mcs. Sadly many authors don't know when to limit things now.

But going back to ToR. I enjoyed it. You did a great original spin on the time travel plot device. Starting with Harry being an old man who was at the end of a full mostly joyful life. Instead of the usual 3. Dies at graveyard 4th year. Dies to Voldemort in 7th and is sent back instead. Then number 3 with slight variations, grownup Harry 20-30s with either Voldemort won, Ministry extremely corrupt or Harry finds out he was love potioned by Weasleys (normally Hermione was as well). So I was hook, plus the fact his real age is what leads to a lot of verbal conflicts with the adults. Can't connect to them as an adult when appearing to be 11-14 most of the time. Honestly when Luna is first mentioned my first thought was "don't think this fic is going to have her "see" his real mental age" due to some seer or similar ability. Fact Harry kept that secret to his grave deserves applause.

So far, me like. But if ambition is what he lacks, then it makes no sense for it to be Hufflepuff instead of Slytherin. Specially given that this is a "meaner" or more dry Harry

Lovely story thank you! I devoured it within days and couldn’t put it down.
After seeing your notes throughout the story and final chapter, I also wanted to say that I found nothing wrong with your characterization of Harry. If anything, I agree that too often an aged Harry wouldnt respond how I would expect to 11-17 year olds and it always made things weird…
Sure he was apathetic, but honestly after the life he lived, I’m surprised there aren’t more stories like this where he abandons Hogwarts for a more mundane life (sure, there are, but half the time its a crack fic or out there).
I also liked the juxtaposition of his two funerals at the end to tie it all together.
I’m rambling… but just wanted to say again- it was a fantastic story and absolutely loved it.

Thanks for your creativity and persistence. I appreciated the novelty of this story, and even if I didn't like every choice Harry made, the story kept me guessing. Nice work on wrapping it up.

I liked the way it ended, points for having the nerve to do what you did and I will die on that hill but the Sirius-Dumbledore option is fucking brilliant. It would’ve been strange and hilarious to ponder people adjusting to an innocent and naïve Harry but that again puts him in the role of having to sacrifice so much for just a chance a ‘normalitywhich was out the window given what he’d accomplished).

Thank you for sharing, for the work and commitment that went into it!

Didn't expect that ending, but it was much appreciated seeing how Harry went out with a bang.
