Absolute power may not have corrupted Valerius or the Emperor yet, but Versians really can be pompous. You needn't say Valerius is a master at things, we can judge his actions ourselves; the description of his character at the end was more interesting, and his cowing of the pro-war noble was even better. Good that he's being nice to Klancain too, that shows he does reward his friends. Looking forward to next chapter.
